Titans by Edward W. Robertson Book Summary

Rob Dunbar is the world's best history professor. And with good reason: he's been alive for three thousand years, keeping his existence a secret since before the days of Athens.

But a stranger named Baxter has a better use for Rob's vast expertise. Baxter's looking to found a mining company in the Asteroid Belt. In exchange for Rob's help, he'll try to unravel the mystery of Rob's origin.

As they're getting their outfit off the ground, they come under covert attack by HemiCo, a powerful Mars-based corporation. And Rob learns Baxter has a secret of his own--he's not human. He's a highly illegal AI.

Developed by HemiCo in the wilds of Mars, the first AI escaped decades ago. They've been fighting a shadow war against their creators ever since. Dragged to Mars, Rob is thrown into the center of the fight--and becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution that will change the course of human history in the stars.

A good read. I thought this was a good read. A nice mix of fairly hard science-fi, ancient history with just enough angst to make it real. I thought the character development was good as was the dialogue. Well done! I would read more books written in this world.

Great read. Thanks for the opportunity!. .

Wow. What a truly amazing adventure. This book brings the past, present and future together in a fusion that creates a brilliant and exciting story. Very well done!

Good story!. And of course a hook at the end for the next book!😍

Great book & an amazing journey. This has been a roller coaster of excitement & has kept me wanting more! I hope there may be a sequel in the works!

4/5. A few nagging spelling errors, but I enjoyed the journey!

Very interesting!. As an avid science fiction reader it was exciting to read a story that had a completely new idea and was well written. Thank you!

Titans. This sci fi novel has everything: Action, science, a little romance, and plenty of wry humor! The characters and landscapes are detailed and interesting. I am definitely looking for more books by this author.

Very addictive!. I haven't read a book in years(since high school). Once I started I couldn't stop. Very entertaining.

Original perspective, well written. Fairly well paced and written, good interleaving of two sub plots with main developments, interesting set of characters and musings on life and regret, all set in a solid scfi story. Editing could be better, but no significant complaints.

Awesome premise. Just the thought of AI and humans living together and doing great things with their superior intelligence baffles the normal mortal mind.

Great fun. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fast paced and fun.

Great book. This book was great, but it's definitely not a book for kids. It has a mix of action, despair, grief, and really makes you think about your life. Also in many parts of the story it shows that the author knows a thing or two about comedy. To sum it up, a must read for college students and up.

A good stand-alone sci-fi novel.. What else can I say? A good novel, nothing borrowed from movies or shows. An interesting plot w/ interesting characters. Well written and no holes in the "science" or plot. It takes a good, rare, imaginative mind to create this plot. Also a good author to make it a book. I'll be reading more from this author, I think.

Great book. But I want more! I’d love to know who made him! Write more!

Review for Titans. One of the best books I have ever read, and I read a lot. I’m 72 years young. Please write a continuation of “Titan”, we didn’t want it to stop! Good job. John Spears

Yes! This is entertainment!. Well paced, plausible story. And at times funny enough to make me guffaw. Deserves the five stars.

Titan. The book started off was interesting, but soon got boring.

Well-conceived and executed. Thanks so much!. Reminds me of the humor and spirit of Heinlein's work, like The Moon is Harsh Mistress. The 3000 year-old man thing really works for me. Love the way you conceive of AI and the way humans and AI can work together. Fast-paced, but makes me stop to ponder some basic human issues. Bravo sir!

Titans is titanic. Most SF authors don’t really ‘get’ AI and robots. This book demonstrates a piercing vision about their ‘true’ nature. It is also an action packed great read. HIghly recommended.

Titans. This guy can really turn a phrase. If you enjoy good writing to go with a good story, Titans will not disappoint. Titans uses Sci-Fi as background, not as a crutch. While a few edits were missed, on the whole I found a refreshing and inspired use of the language, so often missing in others. Well worth your time.

I liked this...a lot.. I never really expect much from the free books list, but I guess I should. Very well written, darkly humorous, with a compelling story that becomes increasingly perilous for characters that you really care about. Deals engagingly with a lot of big SF ideas, including immortality, AI, off-world colonisation but never loses sight of the core human values of friendship, love and honour. I really hope there is a sequel or two to this, and in the meantime will be trawling the back catalogue...

A great read. I got this book in a bundle of so-so sci fi, but this was so different & surprisingly intelligent and witty. A mix of ideas about immortality, artificial intelligence, loyalty, love and so on, any one of which would have made a good story. Loved it and will be searching for more books by this author.
