Templul de aur by Yukio Mishima Book Summary
Unul dintre cele mai cunoscute romane ale lui Mishima, Templul de aur a fost ecranizat de trei ori: în 1958 sub titlul Enjo (Conflagraţia), în regia lui Kon Ichikawa, în 1976, cu titlul original Kinkaku-ji, în regia lui Yoichi Takabayashi, şi în 1985 ca parte a filmului Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, regizat de Paul Schrader şi produs de Francis Ford Coppola şi George Lucas.
În luna iulie a anului 1950, un tânăr preot budist dă foc templului Kinkakuji. În faţa instanţei, acuzatul declară că urăşte frumuseţea. Fascinat de fapta şi de justificarea nemaiauzită, Mishima încearcă să înţeleagă ce se ascunde în spatele acestui răspuns: frumuseţea imuabilă a templului vechi de secole aruncă în derizoriu fericirea efemeră şi imperfectă a muritorilor, amintindu-le că lumea trecătoare nu le poate oferi nimic pe măsura năzuinţelor lor.
