I NEVER LEAVE REVIEWS. Ever.. But I feel changed. Yesterday I read "before we were strangers" in one day and I was just left breathless. I was a crying mess and I was just so grateful for my life. Then I was just so curious about this author and read this book too in a few hours and I'm just obsessed with every character in these books. You are an amazing writer and I think I will finish every book you wrote in the next 48 hours. Ahhhh.

Swear on this life. I picked this book because I heard a lot of people talking about it. It's a good love story with layers. I usually take a week to read a story due to work and hectic lifestyle. I cleared off my schedule and read this in 3 days. It is that good.

Love this author. This author always takes us on a journey of soul searching and self discovery and it is such a sweet ride. The characters that she introduces us to find a place in our heart and tug the strings. If you have not read this authors work do not wait any longer get started now you will not regret it.

It's a hot cocoa and cuddly blanket kind of a book!. Endearing, romantic, leaves you with a feeling of happiness and optimism.

I Swear on my Life You'll Love This One. The best way to describe Swear on This Life is summed up in this quote from the book: “It’s like reading a good book. The kind where you don’t want to skip pages to see what happens at the end. Each moment is a story in itself.” Renée wove this second-chance romance in an incredibly unique way. We learn about our heroine and hero’s past through the pages of “J. Colby’s” All the Roads Between. I loved the feel of the story within a story. At twenty-seven percent I was in tears for the childhood these two had to endure, and a few pages later I was still crying but I was crying a little happier tears because Emi and Jase had each other to lean on. I’m convinced Renée sits at her computer plotting ways to pull at my heart and rip it open because she does it effortlessly. She caused me to ugly cry, laugh, and hold my breath anxiously with every page I swiped because I was never certain of how their story would end. AND I LOVED THAT! I love how she kept me wondering about the outcome. Yet again she’s earned a place as one of my must-read authors.

Great book!. You will not want to put this book down . Well you might have to (because of work and well ..life) .. But worth reading!

Great story!. I absolutely loved this story. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I felt with the characters. If you like second chances, this is the book for you.

One of my favorites. I fall in love with novels that make you feel every emotion throughout the entire book. Sad, angry, and happy. When you cry happy tears as well as sad ones. This book was awesome. I would read it over and over again. You won’t be disappointed and you won’t be able to take a break from it. It’s so worth it.

Storytelling at its best. Gripping, emotional and unpredictable with a host of believable characters. The unique story-within-a-story concept made me want to root for the main characters in the today and the yesterday, the fictional and the real world. An emotional read, in such a good way.

Amazing Renee Carlino book.. Her best ever!!. Renee Carlino out did herself with this book!!! The story of Jase and Em war raw gripping and emotional!! I couldn't put the book down.. Finished it in one day!! As I turned each page I didn't know what to expect.... I was clueless how it would even end but the end didn't disappoint me!! We need more Jase and Em!! I'm reading it again!!!

Loved it at first. Within the first few chapters I was already teary-eyed and just knew this was gonna be a great book. I loved the story concept and their childhood was so beautiful. But when we were in the present it seem kind of rushed and lacked that death that was in their childhood chapters. The rest of the book was a little underwhelming sadly and could have a lot more potential

I’ve never been a reader but this got me. It has taken me a while to really get hooked on reading. But thank you to Renee because this book and Before we were strangers have really got me being a book worm and can’t do anything without finishing the book.

Exactly What I Needed. I was experiencing a massive book hangover & kept looking for something that could live up to my last read. I read the reviews on here & other forms & I was on the fence. I am so glad I decided to try it out because I loved this book. The characters & their stories! I would definitely recommend.

A Great Read!. You won’t regret reading this! It’s a wonderful story, even though the characters have it right in the beginning. The characters, the development, the story itself, it was overall a great read. I love how this author pulls her stories and characters together to make remarkable books. However, I will say that I think the writing could use a little work, as it lacks a little depth in details. And I wish that the ending wasn’t so rushed. I just feel that they deserved a better ending after all they went through in the story. BUT NONETHELESS A NEW FAVORITE.

So ingeniously written. I absolutely loved this book! The act of reading a book within a book was pretty genius. The stories moved me and really made me feel such pain for them. It was one of those books where you were so excited and wanted to see how it ended but didn’t want to skip all the details.

A book to remember!. Holy wow! What a refreshing, unique, and amazing read! I lost a day, I was so entranced by this story of past love, current reads, and a small amount of a love triangle. This book campfires my heart and soul and it’ll be a book to remember!

Renee gets better and better with each book!. I absolutely love Renee Carlino books and Swear on this Life was no different. I love reading different and I really enjoyed the premise of this book – a second chance romance where the heroine Emiline finds herself reading her childhood story in J.Colby’s debut novel; a childhood that included her first real love Jase. Swear on this Life is written in past and present day POV and the reader is taken on a journey as Emiline relives her childhood – a childhood that was filled with sadness, abuse and poverty, where the one light in her life was her time spent with her best friend Jase. I thought that the alternating POV’s were done so well as it really gave me insight into what her life was like as a child but then I also experienced her heart palpitations, anxiety and the intense feelings she had while reading about her past, a heartbreaking past she wanted to forget. It was so well done and really had me gripping my kindle with my heart in my throat. When Emiline is finally ready to go and meet J. Colby himself, to confront him about his story, my heart was literally beating outside of my chest because knowing that she would come face to face with her past, with the boy she had once loved; my stomach was in knots with how it would all go. You see, Emiline has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Trevor for years; a relationship that hasn’t truly fulfilled her heart. Emiline is also struggling professionally as she is not happy being an adjunct writing professor and she is not able to write her own first book. And now besides all of this, this author J. Colby has written HER STORY for the world without her knowledge and permission. Admittedly, I was scared with how their first interaction would go. So what I loved….well I loved the unique way that this story within a story was done. Renee was brilliantly able to evoke all emotions within me because I fell in love with these characters, I as a reader became these characters and felt all of the sadness and hope. I was truly lost in this story and it was SO hard to put down when real life came in the way. I LOVED Jase’s patience and the path he took to get Emiline’s attention (oh my heart!). So how does it end you ask…Does the guy win the girl? Well of course I won’t tell you because you have to read the book but I promise that all of the intensity you feel in your heart will all be worth it in the end! There were some small things within the story that didn’t work for me which is why this was a 4 star rather than a 5 star read for me however I have followed this author for quite a while and have watched her really grow as an author. She truly gets better and better with each book. Renee Carlino continues to astound me with her unforgettable and unique stories that touch readers hearts and I am a FOREVER fan.

A must read. I was hesitant at first to read this but finished it in 2 days, such a captivating story I couldn’t put it down. I’m always searching for reads like this and am usually disappointed, but definitely not with this book. Definitely recommend.

The PERECT romance novel!. Colleen Hoover was right! Totally worth reading in one sitting. Although I don't actually believe anyone is capable of reading a 340 page book and not move at all, this book though would categorize as one of those moments. I just couldn't put it down. Although the book that the author J. Colby wrote was nothing special, if not a little boring. Overall though, this novel and how it was written and composed, and how every detail was precise makes you feel like you don't ever want to let go of the characters. It was hard to say good bye, but all good stories come to an end. I wish there was more to the ending but I was not disappointed.

Loved it. 4.5 Stars This book is very different to any other I have read it was like reading a book within a book and although I struggled at the start I'm so glad I kept going because it turned into a brilliant read. What's it like to read your story in a book well that's exactly what happens to Emiline when she reads a best seller from J.Colby. Emiline was hooked from page one and entranced with Emerson and Jackson's story, the reason she fell in love with these characters was because this was her story it was all about her and her childhood sweetheart Jase, it was about the dream of a better life beyond the long dirt road that they lived on as children. But is this her story or is it his story .The one thing that is certain is Emiline will end looking inside herself to get the answers she needs to move on with her life. This is a beautifully written unique book it's based in the present but you go back into the past with J.Colby's novel. I loved the characters and the style of this authors writing Fantastic read

Amazing. When I finished this book I sat there for a bit trying to process what I just read. This story will captivate you, I have never read anything like this before. Swear on This Life is a unique emotional story filled with friendship, love, forgiveness and second chances. Renee Carlino will take you on a journey you will get lost in. Emiline is a college teacher teaching writing to aspiring writers, while she dreams of being a successful author. Her best friend and roommate comes home with a book recommendation, Emiline is about to be thrown back into her past that she's worked so hard to put behind her. ‘From All the Roads Behind Me’ by J.Colby is the story of HER past written by her childhood best friend and first love, the man who still holds her heart. She is reliving the darkest days of her life and furious that Jase has written HER story in HER POV and making money off it. The more Emiline reads the more we find out about her past, life as a child with a drunk for a father, the close friendship and bond Emiline and Jase shared. Struggling to get through life, finding comfort in one another and sharing their love of reading with one another. She hasn't seen Jase in years not since the last time he promised to come and find her but never following through. Now she's heading to a book signing for some answers. Seeing Jace again is about to unlock the door she had once locked… As the story unfolds piece by piece Emiline discovers a deeper meaning as to why Jace wrote the book… The more you read the more you will be sucked in by Emiline and Jase’s story, the puzzle pieces fit into place while you heart is heavy with all the feels. There was a moment I thought I couldn't continue reading, I needed to put the book down for the night. Once I picked the book up the next day I was so consumed by their story, the deep meaning, the stepping stones laid out leading to the peace at the end. Swear On This Life. Swear On This Life by Renèe Carlino If you've read other reviews of this book, you'll have noticed a common statement: Swear On This Life is like nothing you've ever read before. I found myself intrigued by the concept of the book and was gripped within the first few pages. Emiline, an adjunct writing instructor struggling with her own writing is given a best-selling book by her roommate who insists that she read it ASAP. Within the first few pages, Emiline realizes that this is her life story, written in her point of view. The details of this best-seller are so particular that it could only have been written by Jase, her childhood best-friend/first love that she lost touch with many years ago. We get to read chapters of the story within the story and I truly felt that it was brilliantly executed. I'll be honest and say that I didn't really care for present-day Emiline; she was a little too selfish and immature for my liking but getting to know her past did change my view of her somewhat. Jase, then and now, was a real sweetheart; selfless, wise beyond his years, and his love for Emiline was almost tangible. This is my first book by Carlino and I fully intend to rectify that. While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I felt that certain parts were perhaps a touch anticlimactic - I just felt that the way things panned out didn't really live up to the build-up. What a premise - A story within a story. 5 Star Review of Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino This was a new author to me and I have to say I have no idea why. This is one of those books that I did not want to put down and I was riveted from the first to the last page. What a unique premise there was to this story, so very different from most books in the market place. Emiline succeeded in breaking free of the bonds from an extremely difficult and tough childhood, helped along the way by her best friend Jase. Although they lost track of each other over 10 years before, Emiline is shocked and angry when she reads a book by J. Colby which appears to be the story of her life, told from her perspective. Emiline feels betrayed and feels that she has no alternative but to confront the author whom she suspects is her childhood friend Jase. What happens when she confronts J.Colby? What will happen when she is forced to look within and confront the past she was so desperate to escape? Will she be able to face the truths she finds and move forward; or will it all be too much? Swear on This Life touched my soul, the way Ms. Carlino layers the storylines is like peeling an onion, the more you peeled away the deeper you were engrossed. Told from the point of view of the present to “reading” about their past, it is hard to express the emotions I felt whilst reading this book. I love second chance novels and I must say that this is one of the best I have ever read. It was an emotional and touching journey through time and one I thoroughly enjoyed, although at times a very hard book to read, the emotions evoked made me feel as though I was on a roller coaster ride, holding on for dear life Swear On This Life was extremely well written and I count myself lucky to have read it. I will most certainly be looking to read other books by Renee Carlino and I highly recommend it.

Incredible. I honestly could not put this book down for 6 hours, and that was only because it was 3am and I had work the next day.. An incredible story about how we all heal from past traumas in our own time and how when we do, we can love and truely love. Couldn’t recommend reading this more.

I read this book once a year…. This is one of the few books I’ve re-read and I do so at least once a year. It’s heartbreaking and hopeful all at once and always leaves my heart a little fuller.
