Not Quite True by Lyla Payne Book Summary

With Mayor Beau accused of abuse of power and facing federal indictment, a relentless curse after her unborn nephew, and a moody, uncommunicative spirit in her room, reluctant ghost-helper Graciela Harper figures she’s got enough on her plate.

The universe, as usual, figures otherwise.

On a girls trip to Charleston that’s meant to give Beau some space and cheer up her cousin, Amelia, a second ghost follows Gracie back to Heron Creek.

As she digs into the mystery behind the Whistling Doctor of Dueler’s Alley, things at home go from bad to worse. Leo’s not talking to her, Amelia’s depression is putting her health at risk, and Beau…well, maybe he’s not as innocent as Gracie always believed.

All that takes a back seat when Gracie’s run off the road on her way back from a research trip, forcing her to face the possibility that her ghost’s secrets might not be about harmless lost love after all. In fact, he’s been the only person aware of certain documents for over two hundred years, and if Gracie helps unearth them she might find herself trapped underground…permanently.

Low country series. Enjoying this series - fun read with enough clues to figure some things out and enough twists to be fun!

Keeps ya on your toes!!. Looking forward to read the whole series!!

There's mystery in this book and you will love it!!. ~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~ This is the third book in the Lowcountry series. And I have to tell you, this book does not disappoint at all. We pick up right where book two left off. There is trouble afoot in Heron Creek, and Gracie is for once not in the middle of it-or is she?! A trip to Charleston will help figure out who one ghost is, but she bring home a souvenir that she really doesn't need. Lyla sure knows how to write a great book. This book is no exception. She writes with passion and she knows her history. I felt like I was in Charleston going on ghost tours with Gracie. You will not be upset you bought this book, you will love this book!!

Lyla nails it yet again in Lowcountry!. What the actual Hell?!?!?! Yeah, I had those moments several times while reading. It's become a favorite saying since reading it in this book. Thanks for that, Lyla! ;-) Lyla Payne NAILED it yet again! I've loved this series from the very first time I sat down to read Not Quite Dead. Gracie Harper is, and always will be, one of my favorite literary characters. From her snarky inner monologues, to her snappy comebacks and sharp wit, she NEVER leaves me disappointed! Not Quite True picks up where Not Quite Cold ends, and with Beau's indictment for the abuse of power in Lindsay Boone's case hanging over their heads, Gracie and Beau are trying to wade through the mire of their two messy lives. With Beau's little brother Brick around, and the town choosing sides, they have little chance to spend time together. Mrs. LaBadie is still lurking in the shadows and wreaking havoc on Gracie and Amelia's life. The girls are still struggling to put their curse behind them but quickly realize the crazy voodoo witch isn't finished with them. The ghost stories and history woven into this series is such a pivotal part of the story for me. I love early American history and the ghost stories that go hand in hand with it. Lyla Payne writes about Charleston in a way that makes me determined to walk the ghost tours and sit in the restaurants she describes with such detail. You will come to love both Henry Woodward and Joseph Ladd as they insinuate themselves into Gracie's life time and again. The ghostly aspects of her life are quickly becoming the norm - will she be able to accept them? Lyla's attention to detail and descriptive knack for weaving visuals leaves you feeling as though you've stepped into the story straight from the pages to your mind. I can't wait to see where she goes with this series. It's time to make sure everyone you know reads the Lowcountry series and gets to know Gracie!

Quite Truly Enjoyed!. I just love this series! Graciela is one of those heroines that you can relate to...she's very real -- right down to the bad hair days. I enjoy the paranormal aspect much more than I would have expected, and I really liked how she picked up a new ghost this time around and he was able to communicate in new ways. And as always, Graciela gets herself into worlds of trouble as she tries to clear the name of her boyfriend. I enjoy the fact that I had several laugh out loud moments along with the mystery and suspense that shapes the book. All in all, another great book in this series, and already looking forward to the next one!

Not Quite True. I read the entire series in 3 days. Absolutely loved it.

Good series to read. Enjoyed reading this... writer describes well and easy to visualize characters, settings, etc without being boring.

Captivating Mysteries. I love this series. Lyla does a terrific job relaying historical details, developing the characters, and describing details of a small southern town. Gracie is such a a great character. I love her sassy attitude, sarcastic comebacks and willingness to stand up and fight for what who and what she believes in. She is growing throughout the series and accepting her role as the helper of ghosts. I love all the characters and any glimpse or insight of them I can get. Her relationship with Beau is being put to the test, with him being indicted. Her other relationships are also under strain with various issues. This book is more emotional and deals with some difficult issues. I loved the history of the ghosts that are present in Gracie's life during this book. And the mystery, or should I say mysteries, will leave you guessing until the reveal. My heart was in my throat when it all went down.
