Was anfangs noch nach einem ganz gewöhnlichen Sommerurlaub auf dem Planeten der Stilk aussieht, wird jedoch jäh gestört, denn es droht eine Klimakatastrophe kosmischen Ausmaßes: Der Riesenplanet Rax, der auf einer exzentrischen Bahn um dieselbe Sonne wie der Planet der Stilk kreist, droht den kleineren Planeten aus seiner Umlaufbahn zu reißen und ihn auf eine Bahn zu lenken, die ihn weiter von der Sonne entfernt als gewöhnlich.
