A frustrating read.. It started off well enough, but the main character moves from housewife to assassin in an unlikely, but acceptable fashion. Then she turns into a ding-a-ling who is totally out of character for someone capable of managing her life as a mother and credible assassin. I got so frustrated with the story and author that I put it down, read several other stories and then decided to finish it to see if it got back on track. It didn't. I won't be pursuing the rest of the series.

The Housewife Assassin's Handbook. I have been a big fan of Josie's from the beginning and this may be her best effort yet (hard to choose the best since I have immensely enjoyed them all). More twists and turns than the Giant Dipper on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk! Terrific depth of character development for a "novella". Great research in an area of intrigue - assassins. Who would have known. Does she write from experience? Donna Stone could save the world! Only problem is, how long until Book 2: The Housewife Assassin's Guide to Gracious Killing?

LOVED IT!. This needs to be a movie! Fast paced, tear jerking, sexy, funny, I could keep going until I run out of adjectives! Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read more!

Housewifes Handbook. I read the first of Josie Brown's books, and totally enjoyed the adventure ... it relaxed me after a stressful election, got me through a weekend of teaching with a challenging student, and freed my mind long enough to laugh again. - Cat

Befuddled. I don’t know how one can laugh and cry reading the same group of words, but it happened to me reading “The Housewife Assassin.” A first for me. Donna is the most unique protagonist I’ve met in a long time. A tigress protecting her kids with a mountain sized side of guilt (sorry for the mixed metaphor). An ingrained sense of right and wrong with the wherewithal to fight the good fight. And the sweetest, endearing, most tender love we all wish we’d experience at least once in our lives. I can’t wait to read “Guide to Gracious Killing,” book two in the series.

LOL. Couldn't help laughing out loud thru many of the chapters. Josie Brown has a great sense of humor and a dynamite imagination. I'm looking forward to reading ALL of her books in the series.

What a story. I loved it!. Donna is such a neat Mom and loves her kids so much! Donna is an unassuming person. To find out what I mean by that remark, you have to read the book. This is a fun read and I could not put it down. The story keeps you questing what is going to happen next. Much sex and romance and "fun in the sack" !! Josie is a prolific writer and seems to have great zeal for intrigue and mystery.

The Housewife Assasin. Entertaining from start to finish. The writing style of Josie Brown is cleverly laced with sarcastic humor but also had a softer side that tugs on your heart strings. Easily relatable and hard to put down! A must read!

No accounting for taste sometimes. But in this case the reviews are spot on. The book is funny and quite clever. I really enjoyed it and downloaded books 2 and 3 of the series as well. Glad it is reasonably priced.

Housewife assassins handbook. Thought this would just be a fun read but struggled through much of it. Finally had to give up when the character was about to "diffuse the bomb". I found myself wishing the bomb had diffused in the writer's computer.

Looking for some summer reading?. ...Then look no further. By the pool, on the beach, in the air or home on the couch. You won't want to put it down, and will fly through the series before you know it.. Each book is packed full of humor, suspense, action, and romance. I can't get enough and count down until the next book release. I truly hope it never ends.

Lots of Fun!. Entertaining story of a housewife turned assassin. The language is raunchy so be forewarned if you don't care for that - oh & there's lots of sex happening too so if you prefer a tamer novel this ain't it... And not for the kiddies, obviously. Well written, keeps your interest, makes you laugh, there is plenty of excitement through the whole book - the main character Donna Stone is... well...quite a character! I loved how the "operatives" and all their tricks of the trade were not so outlandish as to be utterly unbelievable. Someone did some great research! The "housewife hints" at the beginning of each chapter are hysterical! I will be reading more of Josie Brown's work.

Too much sex for me. Now that my kids can download and read any book I’ve purchased, books like this that have some adult content don’t work for me. I enjoy reading and sharing books with my family, just not racy ones.

Page turner. This book is hilarious and kept me reading!! Would definitely recommend.

A guilty pleasure, entertaining read.. The dialogue is quick and campy. The narration is humorous and funny. An easy read and enjoyable especially if you want a no-brainer, just plain funny chick lit. I loved the sarcastic comparisons to feminine etiquette and secret agents.

Really enjoyed this book. This won't be the last book in this series that I read. I have already downloaded number two. I like the writing and the characters and who wouldn't love a secret life if we had the opportunity. Ok, maybe I would like one with a little less danger than Donnas. This book was a good read in my opinion.

Enjoyed it but.... Funny and entertaining but a little bit sad too. Would have given a five but the missing gaps in the plot line really annoyed me, for eg. Why was the aunty so excepting of a complete stranger? Also with the kidnapping, why was there not a description taken from the kidnappee and an explanation in what possessed him to get in the car!

Okay. It was okay... there was potential for a good story but the character development was poor.

Silly fun but a seriously fast read. Ok - so she's over the top - but it's fun and fast and free. What's wrong with that. I totally enjoyed it - and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Generic, predictable clap trap.. Good idea but so incredibly predictable that I jumped to the end after 30 pages and was absolutely right. Not worth the time.
