Umm this book is amazing.... I'm not a reader myself, scratch that I never read. When I saw the movie trailer a couple of months ago I immediately fell in love and when I found out that this movie was based on a book I bought the book and started reading it! It's amazing that's the least to say. You can't put the book down. What amazes me the most was that don winslow was a private investigator and knows his stuff which makes the book so much better. I honestly recommend this book for people who love thrillers, in depth explanations, drug wars bloody gorry things cause this book was all of that combined! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Liked it. A lot.. Good story. It is a satisfying tale of violence and perversity, in my opinion.

Immature Crap. This book was written before Mr. Winslow became serious about the topic he writes about. If you liked the Force or his latest you will hate this and feel jipped like I do.

Personally. For me personally I love books like this. Which it’s hard for me to find books like these. Cartel and a wild love story. Awesome. The book was better than the movie.

great book. I like books that you can't put down. This is One of those books. Ready to start the kings of cool next.

Well told, fast paced, action thriller with humor. The book circles around Ben Chon and O short for Ophelia. Winslow managed to keep my attention the whole way through with his unique plot and his relate able characters. Great action, and you feel like you grow a relationship with the characters. One if not my favorite book. And I read a lot.

Readable. I found his writing style also glib.....& attempts of using the 'stoner vernacular' were annoying. Mostly it was close, but for people who know, its a little off the mark. The characters were interesting ( especially Lado ) , but a few characters didn't act or behave according to the 'archetype' of the character itself. It's hard to explain. All & all it's a decent read. If your a stoner, or interested in Organized Crime (in particular the Cartels in Mexico), then it will be an enjoyable read.

Mehhhh,. What a lib a-hole...hopefully movie is better, but I doubt it,

It was ok. A lot of un-needed boring dialog and a lot of unexplained action and events. I had high hopes for this book, but was left irritated.

Savages is my favorite beach read so far. Written like a fast paced screenplay, I wanted to read this before the movie came out and was glad I did. No matter how sophisticated we think we are, in the end we're all just a bunch of savages doing whatever it is we have to do get by.

Good read!. I enjoyed this book. It was a fast easy read for some lazy summer days. The action was good and the characters were interesting.

This is an amazing story! So good Read!! ASAP!. I am so obsessed with this world Winslow has created! So read the book and the prequel and then see the amazing movie! And the cool thing is you can do the those three things in any order! Its such an interesting story its your loss if you don't read it!

Whattaride!. Winslow knows how to tell a tale. He tells it quickly. He tells it quirkely. He tells it honestly. He tells is truthfully. There isn't a vacant moment in this novel of friendship, love, lust, drugs, revenge, violence, intelligence, and humor. So much humor. So much so that you forget it's called "Savages." Savage it is, and savage you hope it stays. It stays savage. It's worth it. Once I was done I kinda wanted to start it again. I didn't, but I thought about it. I'll think about this novel for a while. Nicely done, sir.

A stunning amphetemine rush of a novel. I have never read a book so hilarious, brutal, sexy, and oddly heartwarming as Don Winslow's SAVAGES. Picks up quickly and thrusts you in to a marijuana hazed world of unbelievable violence. And the weirdest thing is that everything in this book--all of the torture and fear and crazy greed--is going on right now between our borders as you read. Truly amazing. A must must MUST read. Fast, fun, and immensely satisfying, with an absolutely perfect ending. Perfectly tailored for the film adaptation that Oliver Stone is shooting as i type. I am insanely excited to see what comes of it. Thank you Mr Winslow. I feel like a savage now.

Entertaining!. I was a little turned off by Ben, Chon and O's relationship in the beginning, but towards the end I really enjoyed their dynamic. Winslow's style took me some time to get used to, but he did a great job with the character development. Savages flowed together perfectly and the ultimate message is priceless. Chon is definitely one of my all-time favorite book characters!

Good read. Good pacing, witty dialogue, a bit predictable though.

Savages. Disappointing. Don't care for Winslow's writing style. Way too glib and trying to be hip. He created some good characters and the story had good potential, but the tone of his third person narrative spoiled it for me. And the final chapters felt very rushed.

pretty good. This book was, well "dope"

Not bad. A fast paced book that didn't disappoint, but when i finished reading it something just seemed to be missing. Rather than feeling like you're part of the story you feel like you're on the periphery watching things as they unfold. That may have been what Winslow was after, but I needed just a little more.

Loved It!. I absolutely loved this book. The way he worded things had me thinking hard a couple times. I had to read some pages over again to understand but that's what I loved about it. Great story and I'm happy they chose to make it in a movie.
