Arena 3 (Book #3 in the Survival Trilogy) by Morgan Rice Book Summary

“Shades of THE HUNGER GAMES permeate a story centered around two courageous teens determined to buck all odds in an effort to regain their loved ones. A believable, involving world, recommended for those who enjoy dystopian novels, powerful female characters, and stories of uncommon courage.” --Midwest Book Review, D. Donovan, eBook Reviewer (regarding Arena 1)

ARENA 3 is book #3 in the Bestselling Survival Trilogy, which begins with ARENA 1.

After nearly freezing to death on their trek north, Brooke and her small group wake to find themselves in civilization. They have found the utopian city, hidden deep in a remote stretch of Canada. They have heat, food, comfortable beds, clean clothes, and security. Finally, they have made it.

As Brooke recovers, she meets the mysterious survivors who inhabit this city, and who vie for her love. She trains again, enhancing her fighting skills greatly under the wing of a new mentor, and matures into a woman.

Brooke soon realizes, though, that being safe and secluded is not all there is to life. When she hears rumors of survivors underground, deep in America, fighting to restore order from the inside—her Dad possibly amongst them—Brooke finds herself facing the choice of a lifetime: to live in this perfect place, free and safe for the rest of her days, or to embark and fight for others’ freedom. It would be a journey, she knows, back through post-apocalyptic America, this time traveling west, across its breadth, in search of the rumored survivors, of her father. She would have to fight her way through a land transformed by apocalypse, try to survive a never-ending stream of dangers, roving packs of violent gangs, with few resources and fewer supplies. It would be a two thousand mile trek to a certain suicide. And if she leaves this utopia, she knows, there is no coming back.

Yet that is not the worst of it: something else lies in her way. Arena 3. The greatest arena left in what was once America, the most brutal and dangerous of them all, the one from which no one survives. The one, she knows, that would test the very limit of all that she is.

Will she risk it all for others?

An action-packed dystopian thriller featuring a tough female heroine whom readers worldwide have fallen in love with, ARENA THREE is the shocking conclusion to the bestselling Survival Trilogy, and one that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

"Addicting...ARENA ONE was one of those books that you read late into the night until your eyes start to cross because you don’t want to put it down." –Dallas Examiner

Wow. I have re-read this trilogy 4 times. If that doesn’t tell you how amazing it is then I don’t know what will.

Was one of the best books. I loved the romance and the action! I’m glad she ended up with Ben and she was a strong woman that could fend for herself!

It feels rushed. I enjoyed this trilogy, but I felt like this book was rushed. The journey felt like it was only a few days and then the ending seemed very unlikely. I’m trying desperately not to give things away. So excuse my vagueness. Honestly I would’ve enjoyed more books in this series.

More than a little disappointing.... Too many typos, the same phrases used over and over again, too slow in most parts, too fast and abrupt in others. It strikes me as a poorly written version of The Hunger Games (which I loved). The rotating “love triangle” crap was annoying also. Only good thing about this series was the price, I didn’t waste too much money on it, although I never will get the time back it took to finish.

I enjoyed the book but.... I did enjoy this book along with books 1 and 2 but there are so many contradictions! ***Possible spoiler alert*** The crazies steal their sailboat with ALL of their belongings and food, weapons etc. Then they run into some random old guy and his shack with a huge bunker in the middle of nowhere in the desert and while they all slept they were robbed of everything... How could he steal Brooke's backpack and their bow and arrows and their other belongings if said belongings were stolen with their sailboat??? Then they meet Stephen with the unbelievable stroke of luck he knows where there are multiple motorcycles with side cars??? I think in my 35 years I have seen 1 motorcycle with a side car and they found a bunch of them??? Then they stop to hunt and fish... It says Brooke goes hunting with a bow and arrows??? So how did she have a bow and arrows to hunt with if they were first stolen with their boat by the crazies??? They never got the boat or belongings back... Then they were stolen by Craig the weird guy in the desert... So how did she have a bow and arrows to hunt birds with? And how did Stephan and Zeke catch a bunch of fish with no belongings??? And they happen to stumble upon a car lot with all of these unlocked cars with full gas tanks??? With slave runners and crazies and survivors how did they magically find these cars that no one else stumbled upon in the 3 years after the war when people are constantly scavenging??? And how did they get rescued in the desert??? How did this army convoy (Brooke's dad is not in the army, he is a marine so that is another issue) just happen to stumble upon the group of survivors in the desert as everyone lay dying of dehydration, heat stroke and starvation??? And WHY did Jack the pit bull have to die??? What was the point of the author killing off a dog other than to make me cry??? There are many more issues but I am not going to mention all of them as this is already longer than I planned on the review being. In summary the book had a great plot and a great amount of excitement and had the potential to compete with The Hunger Games series but it definitely fell short!

Good but A LOT of typos. Each book in the series is a page turner BUT the amount of typos is unbelievable! Either hire a proofreader, or fire the one you have because they aren't doing their job. They give your books a 'cheap' feel unworthy of the price.

Great Series... with a few forgivable niggles.. The highly anticipated Book 3 for me often felt rushed and underwhelming, especially toward the end. The final arena fight was also rather lame and very disappointing. It should have been the very best of the three. And those last few chapters actually felt like they'd been written by someone else - annoyingly rushed and dreadfully unrefined. Not enjoyable at all. Still, despite all its shortcomings and glaring continuity oddities (like the mysterious disappearing and reappearing dogs) I've really enjoyed this series and feel a little sad it's over. A great trilogy overall that could have been way better with just a little more refinement, but still very, very worthy. Thank you, Morgan.

Fan-freakin-tastic!. I absolutely love this series. Every book is a real page turner and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I was a bit disappointed with the way the heroines love life turns out, but other than that, an amazing read overall.

Arena 3. Avery good story . I enjoyed all three books. Thanks

Not recommended for avid readers. I felt the first two books in the series were decent and well written. However, this third book was unrealistic and full of events that just didn't make sense. Felt like the author rushed this book to finish off the series. Disappointed!
