Good writing, poor story. The Warden is back! And this book landed with a resounding “Meh” in my inbox the other day. Good things: Saxton gets his HEA (FINALLY). Ward’s writing is still equal parts funny, sexy, and thrilling- she’s lost none of her magic. Bad things: the plot of the main couple is laid out and easily guessed at. You can figure out where things are going from the very beginning. Also, Saxton’s beloved (Ruhn) was introduced literally one or two books ago, but his backstory comes from nowhere. Ward is famous for her ability to lay the foundations for characters over time so we the reader get to know them. But his time in the spotlight moves to fast- his backstory is told so quickly that what is related is more funny than horrifying.

I love Saxton and Ruhn!. This was really good. I loved loved loved Saxton and Ruhn’s story! I didn’t realize how sad my baby Saxton was. I just wanted to hug him so tight. And I loved the backstory for Ruhn. It was so sad! I loved how even though he had a horrible past, he was still so shy and sweet. I loved them together. I honestly could have read the entire book from their POV. I wanted more! I also like Novo and Peyton together. I loved Novo’s backstory as well. It was so sad and really explained why she was so closed off now. I loved how she slowly opened up to Peyton. His growth was more in the beginning by taking responsibility of his life and being committed to the program. The beginning was a little slow for me. There was a lot of internal monologue and i felt like they didn’t interact much. But once they did I really loved it. This was a great book. I just wish it was longer and had more depth. Maybe even a little more angst. I really enjoyed it though. Especially Saxton and Ruhn. I hope they continue to show up in the BDB series.

One of the best spin off series ever. With Ward's spin-off from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Black Dagger Legacy, we continue to get to see the newest generation of fighters who want to save their race from the Lessening Society. The legacy books are pretty basic compared to its counter part. There is so much going on with in the BDB series that you have to follow along and know what's what. With the BDL books, it's just a couple and their journey to happiness (whatever that may be). I really love that she gave us these books. We have so many more characters to fall in love with and so much more time with the ones we have loved all along. These couples in this latest installment made for one addicting read and an amazing addition to the Black Dagger Legacy series. Saxton has broken my heart since the fall out of his relationship with Blay. I didn't like those two together but I always liked Saxton. Watching his relationship with Ruhn grow was worth the wait. Even though this series is supposed to be the original BDB guys and the new recruits, I think it was prefect to have Saxton's story in this series. His would have been over shadowed in the BDB series and I really did not want that to happen to him. Peyton comes into his own in this book and for me I couldn't get enough of it. Peyton was the one I have been waiting for since Blood Kiss. He peaked my interest then and I have been dying to get more. Novo was everything and so much more than I expected. I would have liked to have seen more about her needs for the club she went to but with everything else I get why we didn't. I've had so many people ask me when should these start these books. Even though this is a separate series and it could possibly stand on its own. I truly think these books would mean so much more to you if would have read the books in the BDB series at least through all the ones named Lover ______ . After that she kinda revisits some old characters and some side characters get a story too. So with the start of The King you could jump into these at any time. I've loved all of these books, some more than others, but they all are amazing and at the top of Paranormal Romance recommendations. Blood Fury is a journey of overcoming and moving on, starting fresh and finding your voice. It's emotional and full of the trade mark humor we have come to jknow and love from Ward. I couldn't get enough of this book.

Another hit!. Made you laugh and cry...no not cry sob! Beautiful work and a lovely read. My only complaint is that is was so awesome I finished it day one and have to wait for the next book! Lol! Buy this book you wont be disappointed!

Loved it as usual....she never disappoints.. Read the ENTIRE series. You won’t be disappointed. Wow this lady writes so good. Keep em coming hunny!

Falling in love with Peyton. Novo is tough as nails and as emotional as a brick wall. When the BDB training program opened up asking for new recruits, she jumped at the chance to find a sense of purpose and meaning in her life, to cover the constant emotional pain she was in. She wasn’t counting on Peyton, your typical rich boy, to entice her. But can she keep her heart safe from his constant attacks ? Saxton, the King’s solicitor, hasn’t gotten over Blay and finds himself looking for ways to resign his position to get away from the constant reminder of what he has lost. But when Blay asks him to help out a friend of his parents, the king assigns Ruhn to keep him safe. As old feeling die and new ones emerge, can Saxton and Ruhn overcome the obstacles in their way? JR Ward has masterfully brought us another book with not just one love story but two. We get to watch each couple find their way through the pain and heartache they have experienced to find their way together. Every book gives us more insite into the world of the vampires. I love that even though this is a separate series, we still get to see the brothers that we have come to love. Peyton is my favorite recruit and I love how far he has come emotionally since the first book in this series. I hope we get to see him and Novo in more books.

Great story. J.R. Ward is an extraordinary storyteller. This spinoff series is a lot of fun.

It was a disappointment. I adore this series ; so much so that I re read them over every time a new book comes out . However , paying $14.99 for an EBook with a flat storyline left me angry and unhappy. The story between Ruhn and Saxton was interesting, but had none of JR Wards usual character depth . The Peyton and novo relationship was predictable. Overall i say don’t pay the exorbitant price to read , just borrow from a friend

Growing old..... I think it was a couple books back that I began losing interest. I loved the initial 6-8 BDB books and kept eventually reading. I've had a few favorites and some I thought really sucked. Now they are becoming too predictable, as well as far too many storylines that just disappear like Assail (he's been screaming for the last 3 books now??) and the predictable 4/5 pages of story & then 4/6 pages of sex. I think I'm done now. I even stopped recommending the series a number of books back. Also, kind of tired of the over descriptive narrative author uses to fill in gaps from a viewers perspective and sound hip or with it. I tried to get into the Bourbon Kings. Gave up not even halfway into 1st book. Read a couple of the Fallen Angels, somewhat entertaining but am done with that too. I'd like to read more story & less descriptive sex too. As a rule I'm not into romance novels - more a staunch sci-fi fan. I originally got a six volume paperback set for Christmas from a friend who was "re-gifting" because she wasn't into the genre. These books caught my interest in the first 6 or so and it's been pretty much downhill. This one is definitely my last JR Ward book. 👿
