El tumor és un llibre de dol. O potser és un llibre sobre el no-dol: una confessió sobre el dolor llargament reprimit. És un relat escrit en pocs mesos però covat durant més de trenta anys, perquè la pèrdua dels pares –per sort– és una absència que no s’omple mai del tot.
Escrit amb un llenguatge contingut i precís, Toni Soler retrata aquell adolescent que no va saber com enfrontar-se a la pèrdua i reconstrueix la figura del pare mort abans d’hora. El tumor cerebral que el va fer emmalaltir durant quatre anys, i finalment se’l va endur, reapareix en la ment del narrador com un mur insuperable, i esdevé a la pràctica un personatge més d’aquest fris familiar.
