Death on the river. I thought it was great the way the old friends met up and ended up solving a crime together and really getting along so well.

This book got me back into reading. This book was the first one I picked up on a suggestion list and it got me back into reading. The pace, plot, and characters sucked me in and I remember how much I love and enjoy reading. Just purchased the next book in the series and can’t wait to read it.

Interminable. Only my insatiable mystery-lover quest to find out “who done it” kept me reading this overly long book. Agnes (one of the most ugly names in the English language) was so obnoxious and pushy. The budding romance between her and the chief inspector was not credible. All in all a waste of time. Also, the countless unnecessary use of commas (in the middle of sentences!) was extremely off putting.

badly needs an editor. Oh, gosh. I wanted to like this book. Truly I did. But there’s so much that gets in the way of the tale. For one, the author needs an editor. There are many, many errors in grammar and punctuation that distract from one’s ability to enjoy the book. But an editor might also have *edited*: they might have removed all of the exposition and the “telling” (versus showing) that happens in the book. And unlike an Agatha Christie novel, so many of the coincidences here strain credulity. For example, the cab driver whose cab she gets in at random just happens to have seen the victim at a restaurant the night before? It’s all too much. I struggled to finish this book (and indeed, only did so to reach the unsatisfying solution).

Murder on Tyneside. This book was nothing but amazing, I was griped to it the day I started it, I’ve never managed to actually sit and read a full book through till the end and this was my first. I loved it from start to finish.

Enjoyable. Fairly good plot, a little drawn out at times, felt like everything happened right at the end, that said kept me reading till the end. Light hearted read, easy to pick up and put down when needed.

Poor. I have been reading mystery novels back to back and this one was so slow and boring I literally could not finish it. Do not waste your time.
