Spycatcher (Matthew Dunn) Book Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

So bad I couldn’t finish it. This was suggested by Apple based on purchases of other spy thrillers. The writing is cheesy, and the action sequences are clumsy. It’s an old book, but not worth the time spent reading it even if it was free).

Spycatcher. Couldn't put it down.

Outstanding!. This is an excellent and well written novel. Characters are well developed and the plot is logically unveiled. Everything moved the story forward. Only one thing struck me as odd, and wasn't necessary for the narrative, was having a senior level operative undertake international travel to pick up a letter and return to Europe to share it. A courier couldn't have brought it? The encrypted fax machine was out for repair? A secure satellite transmission couldn't help? It's like sending the Vice President to pick up a pizza instead of having it delivered. But, read the book or go see the movie, its well worth the time.

He knew. Throughout the story, every transition used the phrase “he knew that…” I thought that the connection with Lana was weak and her excuse for hating Megiddo was even weaker. The result was that the ending was not much of a surprise.

Could have been so good…. Book starts well, but the repetition of situations (protagonist getting shot and recovering immediately), and absolutely stupid decisions by everyone character, makes things go downhill fast. Lastly, the true hero is the protagonist’s travel agent.

Not worth the time. Even by potboiler standards, the plot is completely implausible and Tedious. It had me groaning and rolling my eyes at every overdrawn cliche.

Too many other great options to waste your time.. Simplistic writing style. Illogical plot line. Cartoonish narration. Countless other good books in this genre. Mad at myself for finishing it. Should have just walked away.

Terrible book. Zero - characters, Zero - story, Zero - writing, Zero - imagination. I disliked everything about this book

GW. Great read. Matthew Dunn is one of the top authors for spy fiction. I could not put the book down!! 🔫💣💣👍 G
