A worthy offering. I have read several of this authors books recently, and find this one a worthy offering. The concepts that unfold are interesting and somewhat thought provoking. Go ahead and invest a little time in this book.

This author is exceptional. I love all his books and this one is no exception. The plot is both outrageous and totally believe able, leaving the reader engrossed in the characters and events.

Fascinating. Most imaginative, cerebral yet action packed five stars!

Awesome story. Wished I had read this one first before I read the Glass Hummingbird. Very interesting story.

Recommend. Part SF, part Christian-Eastern philosophy. Interesting plot ideas. Likeable main character. Secondary characters somewhat one dimensional and cliched but adequate. The robot has the most interesting suggestions for growth. Not sure of the basis for attraction between characters other than the female character is quite beautiful. The religious discussion is not dogmatic and would probably not offend most people. After re-reading this I am not sure why I liked this but I did. It is not as good as the author's more traditional SF series. I would give you those titles but I have forgotten them and don't know what would happen if I looked them up. I am not retyping this.

3.5 Stars. My third Mason book in a week. Good, but not quite as good as the space stories just completed. I look forward though to reading the sequel to this book.

First in Series. Although I had already read the later books in this series (they really should be numbered) and didn't expect to enjoy this first volume as much because of it, I did like it very much. There was one bit of confusion where I'm sure I read early on in this volume that the Professor's house is single story but later books referred to the upstairs bedrooms. I remembered that in a later story there was construction also going on in the house which I thought was the reason but even in this first book the upstairs bedrooms were mentioned. I may need to re-read it to be sure.

Great book. It really held my interest during the read. The writing help to bring imagery in each chapter

I'm loving this series.. Mason is an incredible writer with an awesome imagination. I've been gobbling up all of Masons works and have found very few reasons for complaint. I hope these books grant you the same wonderful escape they have me.

The Empty Door.. Well I have just recently completed and enjoyed the Adria Tarn series by Mr Mason and this book though very different was very interesting and thought provoking. Great story and likeable characters, a wonderful start to another series of books. Highly recommended.

An intriguing book. This is a good adventure story with a wide variety of settings. The main characters are interesting and appealing. There is also a pace to the plot that builds towards the conclusion On another level there is a lot debate about the foundations of reality and our perceptions of it.

The Empty Door opens your mind. Having read Deep Crossing & Fatal Boarding I was half expecting more of the same of something similar. The Open Door is not, in fact it’s a pleasant surprise and I think better than both Deep Crossing (which I enjoyed) and Fatal Boarding (which I didn’t enjoy as much and if I’d read this first I may have skipped Deep Crossing). It’s a good read, wanting more at the end of each chapter and finding the characters likeable. I could be taken as a religious view being imposed upon you, but to be honest I found it just makes you think, more philosophe than religion, asking you to conside our world/life view and also to consider past teachings and knowledge and not be too reliant on science and dogma. Having said that, it’s not a book forcing a message, it entertains and informs and leaves you to decide. Broaden your mind and enjoy a good read at the same time. I will be looking for more like this from the author.

The empty door. I was fortunate to read all four books to say I enjoyed them is a huge understatement. Good characters, strong story lines and well written. After reading the first book I was looking forward to the second and would have happily paid for the privilege. Much to my surprise all four titles were free downloads. Great book, very well written!!. An awesome blend of action, physics, mysticism and philosophy all bound together with great relatable and likable characters and just the right amount of romantic intrigue! Great book, cannot wait to read everything else written by E R Mason that I can get my hands on!
