Legion of the Damned by Rob Sanders Book Summary

Following the trajectory of a blood-red comet, the berserk World Eaters blaze a path of destruction across the galaxy in its wake. The small cemetery world of Certus Minor appeals to the Space Marines of the Excoriators Chapter for protection, but the force dispatched to deal with this grim threat is far too small and their losses against the renegades are high. Just as all seems lost, salvation is borne out of legend itself as sinister spectral warriors descend upon this planet of the dead, and the enemies of the Imperium come face to face with those who have already travelled beyond the realm of the living..

Good book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Perfect way to cover the damned legion.

Wow. Honestly, I was shocked at how good this book was, I could not put it down. I had a few minor issues with some plot points (I've never ever read of Astartes being as mutinous as they behave at some points), but just an awesome story. Pick it up and enjoy one of the surprise gems of the Black Library.

The best of the Battles of the Space Marines series. If you haven't encountered the Warhammer 40K books before this one,it may not be the book to start with. ( The Eisenhorn novels were my introduction and it's a good one.) However if you have read any of them, then pick this up. The Warhammer novels paint a future of extremes, where man lives a brutal, oppressive existence that is justifiable only by the threats that are worse in every way. There is a tremendous drama inherent in the setting. This is one of the few novels that lets some hope bleed through without compromising any of the conflict. It also manages to create distinctive characters that are true to the Space Marines template. I want to read more books with this character or with the Excoriators.

Unbalanced. I agree. I thought there should have been more of TLOTD since they were the title characters. I did learn a little about them but not enough to name this book after them. There was more info on them in the Index Astartes book some years ago that was very entertaining. Hopefully there will be another 40K book that takes advantage of that. Good story despite the tease of the title.

Review. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the best 40k book out there. 10 pages of TLOTD at the end of the book... 300 on a mind numbing build up. I was hoping the book was about the Legion, not a long story with an apearance so small it was almost as if it was an after thought.

Legion of the damned. The legion of the damned are awesome, how do they get supplies though?

The best 40k in years. The best 40k story in years.

Great book!. Love this book!

A book you want to read in one day. Obviously when you first look into this book, you would think it was from the Legion’s perspective or maybe even just a series of stories about them like the omnibuses of BL. What you got was a great story of redemption and a defense against all odds. The author goes into great detail just as you would expect a BL author to, but he goes above and beyond when it comes to Kersh (main character) and the problems he has to face within his own mind and on the battlefield. I never felt like I was there on the battlefield from reading a book with a few exceptions being Armageddon and this book. My only complaint is that i wish the finale lasted longer :(

A struggle of patience. Sadly this is the first space marine book that I couldn't endorse. I will admit to reading this right after Dan Abnetts "know no fear" and so was definitely coming of a high, but it's still lacked substance in many places. The idea being the story is fine and the world in question is another nice addition to the war hammer universe. The main characters just didn't gel for me, they seemed unlike any son of Dorn that I had imagined. And forget any good combat with the Legion of The Damned, they make the shortest and most uninspiring appearance possible. One to forget for me

Blood for the blood god !!!. As another one of the space marine battles stories released it was nice to see that one of the less written about legions( Angrons sons) was part of the story. I found it made a nice change from the stories about the Orc boyz or Necron interesting as they are variety is the spice of life! The story was well told with the main character The Scourge being someone you could get to like as he had to deal with hatred from his own brothers, other chapters, the enemy as well as his own personal daemons!!! Not to mention having to deal with pushy mortals as well !!! The pace of the story stopped you from getting bored and the were enough supporting characters to give a good round story. The apocathery being a sensible voice to balance the Scourge's emotional reactions and the squad whips adding abit of friction within the ranks of the 5th company. In future hope to see more of the World Eaters as they hack and slash their way through the Imperium of Man! Us worshippers of Khorne need to read about our hero's as well!!! So until then- Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne !!!

Gripping. Found this book utterly gripping. Could part foresee the plot but dammit I just had to find out how it went. Look forward to more takes of those Damned Legionnaires!

Amazing screw the haters. Amazing book all them people saying 'the dammed' are there for a little while well if you know ANYTHING about warhammer then you would know 'the dammed' only appear for minutes and then disappear (idiots) And finally I must finish my para Blood for the blood god!
