Planicio by José Luis Olaizola Book Summary
En San Sebastián, poco después de terminar la guerra civil, vive Pachi, de origen gallego pero muy identificado con el género de vida de los vascos, un hombre cazurro, bohemio y filósofo a su manera; es viudo y tiene un hijo a quien llaman Planicio por tener los pies planos. Pachi no tiene oficio ni beneficio, juega muy bien a la pelota, apuesta, le gusta beber y raras veces tiene dinero, por lo cual en el minúsculo sobreático dende vive con Planicio suele haber estrecheces económicas, pero el buen talante del niño y la simpatía y la cordialidad del padre quitan todo aire sórdido a la situación. A partir de estos hechos se va desenvolviendo una historia sencilla, amena y agridulce, en cuyo humor se advierten unas gotas constantes de dramatismo callado, intenso pero bien disimulado en la acción. Unos personajes que conservan siempre una atractiva dimensión de verdad, mucho más honda que las apariencias costumbristas, interesan y conmueven, provocando una sonrisa comprensiva y emocionada.
