Slightly disappointed. Not the usual Heather Graham quality. The story doesn’t seem to flow and there is a lot of repetition and inconsistencies. One character, Jon Wilhelm, is dropped. In the third chapter it says he will join the team in London but he is not mentioned again. Edmund Taylor is occasionally called Edward and he age changes from 40’s to 30’s.

Disappointed. This book was a total disappointment after reading the first in this series. The book contained too many inconsistencies and reiteration of the history and social injustices during Jack the Ripper’s Era. After reading it I was left with many questions regarding Della’s methods of investigation. Why didn’t she follow up on the leads of the ghosts when they followed Ripper and lost him? I would have loved to have his lair discovered as she did in the 3rd volume, “Cursed at Dawn”. This book read as if it was written hastily without a solid climax and ending and was too short to be a stand alone book.
