Sie fügt sich in die Welt großer Figuren ein, die die Debatten einer neuen Gesellschaft beflügelten, von Mendelssohn bis Zola und von Marx bis Jaurès.
Mit dem aufstrebenden Kampf einer Arbeiterklasse gegen den Imperialismus werden die nationalen Aufbrüche zum Inbegriff für allgemeine Revolten. Die Wellen breiten sich von Warschau bis Odessa und von Wilna bis Kiew aus. Rosas rebellische Existenz verschmilzt mit dem Engagement ihres Lebensgefährten Leo. Die beiden nehmen uns mit in unbekannte europäische Gefilde. Im Schlepptau der russischen Revolution wird Rosa Luxemburg die Gründung der ersten kommunistischen Partei in Berlin mit ihrem Leben bezahlen. Und Leo wird im gleichen Winter 1919 sein eigenes verlieren, da er sich weigert, Rosas Projekt aufzugeben.
Sylvie Lemasson ist Autorin mehrerer Bücher zur Geschichte Mittel- und Osteuropas und Professorin am Institut für Politische Wissenschaften (Institut d'études politiques) in Grenoble.
