Errances by Lu Xun Book Summary
En 1926, trois ans après Cris, où sont rassemblées les nouvelles de la période du 4 mai 1919 (dont « Le Journal d'un fou »), Lu Xun publie Errances. Si ce recueil est resté inédit en français, c'est sans doute qu'il correspondait trop peu à l'image idéologique qu'on s'est longtemps faite de son auteur. Les onze nouvelles qui le composent sont en effet autant de variations sur l'errance des intellectuels chinois des années 1920, anciens lettrés devenus petits fonctionnaires, piégés entre leurs souvenirs d'un passé rural familier mais cruel et la modernité incertaine ou trompeuse des grandes villes occidentalisées où ils peinent à trouver une place. À travers ces textes et l'essai « Les chemins divergents de la littérature et du pouvoir politique » que nous leur avons joint, le lecteur pourra découvrir un autre Lu Xun, le moderniste hésitant, confronté à l'effondrement du monde traditionnel qu'il a pourtant souhaité, mais dont ne semble sortir aucun nouvel ordre historique et politique.
