Leyendas by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer Book Summary
Las obras de Chateaubriand, Byron, Balzac y Heine despertaron muy pronto la vocación poética de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (Sevilla, 1836-Madrid, 1870), que siempre compartiría con una gran afición por el mundo del arte. Periodista y adaptador teatral, el poeta más representativo del Romanticismo español fue un gran amante de la tradición, que, más o menos recreada, plasmó en algunos de sus escritos.
Austral presenta en este volumen diecisiete Leyendas, en edición cuidadosamente preparada por Francisco López Estrada y María Teresa López García-Berdoy. Agrupadas según la zona geográfica a la que pertenecen, componen un libro en el que Bécquer se revela como un notable prosista. El poeta toma como bases de sus relatos historias tradicionales que cuenta haber conocido, a veces, a través de su propia experiencia. Así surgen «Maese Pérez el organista», «La rosa de pasión», «La promesa», o «El Miserere». Cada leyenda va seguida de un comentario referente a su publicación y a sus características literarias.
