Six Months in Montana by Pamela M. Kelley Book Summary

Molly Bishop loves living in Manhattan and managing a boutique luxury hotel. She's about to be promoted to her dream job of General Manager, the role she's been striving for her entire career.

There's only one thing standing in her way.

The will of her childhood friend, Christian Ford's grandfather. She hasn't even seen Christian in over ten years, but a recent run-in with his grandfather during a rare visit home, resulted in a new condition to the will. Christian will only inherit the ranch he's been running and the real estate development business that he has expanded, if he marries Molly and stays married for at least six months.

This is what I would call a cozy romance, it's romantic and sweet and is set in a small fictional town about 30 miles from Bozeman, MT. Warning, if you prefer your stories with the bedroom doors wide open and the windows steamed up, you may be disappointed. :)

I love to cook and try new recipes and if you do too, you may want to check out the recipe I included at the end of the book, for Lazy Lobster Casserole, the dish that Molly serves her guests at the Rose Cottage Inn's first wine dinner. It's a recipe I know by heart and have made a million times and is great for special occasions. It's a holiday tradition in our family to have it every Christmas Eve. :)

Q & A with the Author

Q-This is a sweet western romance set in Montana with a marriage of convenience plot. Why Montana? Why a marriage of convenience? Hasn't that been done to death?

A-The setting of Montana is actually what came to me first. I was inspired by a close friend who moved to Bozeman in her late 30's because she'd visited the area once and it felt like home. She bought a kayak and joined a local kayak club to make friends and ended up meeting the love of her life. A year later married and now have a five month old baby boy. So now, to me, Bozeman means romance. :)

I grew up reading Harlequin category romances, and have always loved the marriage of convenience stories. I knew they were popular with western romances, with all the mail-order brides, and I wanted to put a modern spin on it. I loved the idea of a meddling grandfather who plays match-maker from the grave. Having the stipulation that Molly and Christian have to stay married for six months made the premise even more fun. I also have a soft spot for the idea of best friends (in this case former childhood best friends) who end up together.

Q-What writers have influenced you?
A-Where do I start? There are so many! There's a few main ones that come to mind who I really admire. Debbie Macomber is one. I love the sweet romances that she writes and the family focused women's fiction and continuing series. I first discovered her when she was writing for Silhouette and fell in love with her voice. I bought every Debbie Macomber book as soon as they were released. Maeve Binchy is another favorite. I love the warm cast of characters that populate her stories. Danielle Steel is another writer I really admire. My sister and I read all of her books as soon as they are released. We always know exactly what we are getting with her books, a sweet escape with likable people and a story you can't put down.

Q-What's next?
A- I'm working on MISCHIEF IN MONTANA, which is the third book in this sweet western romance series. MISTLETOE IN MONTANA is book 2, and that's available now and features Traci and Dan, who we meet in SIX MONTHS IN MONTANA. I also recently released a cozy mystery, TRUST, which was really fun to write and is the first in a new series set in a seaside town in Massachusetts.

Six Months in Montana. This was a decent book that didn’t take me long to read. What I did not like was the actual writing itself. There were many repetitive sentences and situations throughout the book, the grammar wasn’t the best, as I found mistakes, and the ending was predictable.

Six Months in Montana. Easy read. Finished it in one evening. Great story line and characters. Will read more by the author. Elizabeth B.

Six Months in Montana. I really enjoyed reading this book. The no details in the sex department was nice. The cooking recipes was an interesting addition. I will look forward to reading more of your works. Joyce Farley

Good read but….. I liked this book and would have given it 5 stars had the editing and proof reading had been better. Lots of spelling and grammatical errors that interrupted my read. Hopefully this author will bring people in to handle this effort for her..

Six months in Montana. A pleasant read without angst. Nice ending with everyone happy.

Fun. Fun to read

it turned out surprisedly amazing. I kinda not like romance novels.I downloaded it by accidentally. And I read this just to bore myself to sleep. But it surprised me then took me overnight to finish it and couldn't help writing down my complements with lack of sleep early morning. I'd like to read it again soon!

A great story!. A great story! I'm not sure why but I love stories about arranged marriages. There's something about two people falling for each other when pushed together and the 'age is wisdom' thing (since most are arranged by grandparents). I really enjoyed Christian and Molly's story. The old friendship that was reignited and built on, their ease with each other, and natural flow of their relationship was perfect without a lot of drama. Her ability to overlook and understand Isabella shows Molly's maturity and self-confidence which make her perfect for Christian.

Terrible. Where to start? When you start reading you have this feeling that it is going to be a good romance...and yes there is good romance between the food and wine. The author was hungry while writing this book or just wanted to write a cook book. There is no development between the main characters. If you take all the description about the food you can read the book in 30 minutes maximum. Too boring, extremely boring. I don't understand why it has some many good reviews.

Dismal "Romance" novel. I'm very glad this was a free book. Whoever told this author ( and I use the term loosely) that she could write, was sadly mistaken! Where was the romance or the sexual tension? Who are these reviewers that said this was a good book? They must be very young and inexperienced in love because I felt nothing while reading this book and I'm a very emotional person. This author should definitely stick to "free" novels.

Six months in Montana. A nice romantic, this author has a way to make you feel like you know the characters and pull you into the story. I couldn’t put the book down until it was finished

Cute story. Cute story but there was no depth to the characters. It was almost a cliff notes version of a great story that made the character have little personality or depth to their relationship.

Very enjoyable.. Easy read. Loved the storyline. I would definitely read another one.

Good love story. Interesting plot and setting

Six months in montano. A Very nice read. I read it it all in one sitting. No unnecessary angst during the book and the story moved quickly.

Great read!!. It’s a great book, and kept me wanting to read more, and I’m not a reader! It surprised me at some points, but all in all will be reading the second book in the series!

Amazing. It was so good

Good romantic read. Read this novel in the evenings just before bed to relax. Really like the characters and the overall plot. Only negative was how quickly the ending wrapped up.

Nice. Sweet story. Took them forever to figure things out. Nice clean romance with an HEA.

Simple story. Nice couple, nice town, lots of wine and food

Just wonderful. Even though you might guess the ending, the entire story offers a lot of twists and turns with so much love. This is a clean read but with a great story. Loved it.

Sweet title. Sweet easy read. However there were too many unnecessary details about things, and I wish the story would have had more depth between the main characters.

A fast easy read. This is a very predictable plot, but still quite satisfying. The characters are nicely drawn & of course, quite likable. One of my favorite things about this book & the one other I’ve read by this author is that she lets you fill in your own imagination about the bedroom scenes. I often find myself skipping ahead on many books because the sex scenes are so over the top explicit. The discretion of this author is much appreciated.

Six Months in Montana. Love the story kept my interest

Six months in Montana. Sweet story. No spark or sizzle between the main couple. He has no personality at all. She has very little. Blah.

6 months in Montana. Sweet, sweet love story!!

Good read. Kept me busy while I was sick

Six Months in Montana. This book was a disappointment for me. Just too much detail for things that didn’t matter, like food or clothes. Not enough character development.

Six Months in Montana. What a delightful old fashioned romance with great characters and ambiance! Can’t wait to read another or try lazy lobster casserole!

Six Months in Montana. Great story. I’m anxious to read the other books in this series.

Six month in Montana. Great read. Have read for second time.

Six months in Montana. I enjoyed the story and the main characters but got tired of how verbose about food recipes and decorating.

Finding Yourself!!. Great reading from start to finish! This is one of those reads you just can't stop reading! There's more than a romance here. It's also finding yourself and determining if your happiness means family more important than a profession.

Meh. Characters were very flat. The story focused on random things instead of their “love” story. I use the word love loosely because we don’t even see them fall in love they just kinda say it halfway through. Would’ve been nice to know what the characters are supposed to look like as well instead of trying to guess

Six Months in Montana. Great book!

Six Months in Montana…... The smell of Honeysuckle, after an early summer afternoon rain shower; the feel of dew moistened clover on bare feet; the sound of a Mockingbird singing his heart out, perched at the top of a “telephone” pole- that’s what this book is…..Fresh, Clean, Full of Hope for a Future. Eshel Travis

Loved the story. This was an easy to read, enjoyable story.

shallow. good plot but literally no depth at all.

Six months in Montana. Super super great book !!! Could not Put it down !!! Excellently written !!! Oh my gosh it was sooo great !!!

Six Months in Montana. Thoroughly enjoyable read! Likeable characters in a sweet story.Planning on reading them all. If you enjoyed this series check out Beth Carpenter’s Family Choices series. Clean, modern romances set in Arizona with lots of attention to detail in the culinary department (but not quite so much wine!).

Six Months in Montana. Thoroughly enjoyed this story

Very good read. Very good, I was sorry to see it end. You will not be disappointed.

Six months in Montana. Well done. Nice to read a story without a lot of false tension. Good editing. Nice to read a book written by a neighbor. A reader from Kingston MA.

Six Months in Montana. The story is refreshing. I enjoy human interest with just the right amount of love and affection. I am not into lust and foul language. Thank you. Looking forward to reading more stories.

Sweet. It was a sweet story but I was fascinated with the food descriptions. It peaked my interest in trying some things for myself.

Interesting, lovely and exactly what I wanted. A quick bit of thanks to the author and her editor(s) for creating a lovely romance with engaging characters who enjoy their life, family and work. What a relief to find! With the tidal wave of paranormal, dark paranormal, and explicit erotic romance out there it's so refreshing to find an author willing to take a chance with everyday characters--people who work, enjoy their family and friends, and happen along something worth investing in. While there are some trite moments, e.g., a recently deceased, eclectic "gramps" "forcing" a marriage, the suddenly too tidy ending, I enjoyed the book from start to finish and found in it exactly what I was looking for: a smile, an enjoyable read, and a warmed heart. I look forward to the next book and wish the author continued success.

Six Months In Montana. This was a really sweet short book! I could feel myself pulled into the emotions of the characters? I loved being able to read it in one day.

Light romance. Nice read light romance

Loved it. I loved it and don’t regret reading it but they needed more of a story. I wanted to really feel the connection but didn’t

Excellent. I started this book and had a hard time putting it down! It was fast moving and interesting. Characters easy to relate to also! Would love to read another book from this author!

Nice read. It was a lovely clean romance, completely enjoyed it

Nice read. I enjoyed the story although at times it felt more like a recipe book, it was a good and easy read but missing a spark for me, maybe a little too much detail in the wrong place sometimes. All in all I did enjoy it but not a favourite

Great cook book. So much detail of the cooking and food dishes, but nothing of romance and electricity ( other than of the oven kind). seemed to just jump through stages of romance, totally non-flowing and very rushed ending. Idea has potential but author didn't deliver.

Six months in Manhattan. I recently broke my ankle very badly, so I’m bed ridden, I’m on medication, which unfortunately I can’t sleep at night, I have chose a few books to read and I came across this one, absolutely loved it, I read the book in one night, I couldn’t put it down such a beautiful read, I look forward to reading many more of these books thankyou so much

Enjoy!. Fun quirky love story. Loved the food angle!

Six months in Montana. Enjoyed this book, interesting characters & a good story line. Will definitely be reading more from this author

Six months in Montana. Enjoyed reading, but a little bit lacking on the explicit side perhaps for many readers?

Fabulous!. This book is an excellent read. The storyline keeps you engaged throughout. The characters are likeable! I would recommend this book.

Ok. An interesting story but nothing special

Easy read. Enjoyable easy read. Got through it in a day. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, might look at reading another book by this author

Enjoyable quick fiction. Enjoyable quick escape from a busy schedule. Only query is the character ‘Paul’ who is mentioned early in the book but it’s unclear as to his role and he isn’t mentioned again.

Six months in Montana. Thoroughly enjoyed this book! A beautiful romance story with feelings and wonderful cooking explanations! Will be checking out your other books Pamela!😍

Six Months in Montana. Pamela Kelley Y. Six Months in Montana 6/10 Free iBook. First book by the author. Contempory. Molly has a great job in the city. She is called back to her hometown for Christian's grandfathers will. For the business not to be sold, she has to marry Christian and live with him for 6 months. They were best friends as kids and of course fall in love.

Fantastic read spoiler alert !. I really enjoyed reading this novel, an easy read but classy and a great romance. Really would love to see how Christian and Molly's story pans out once they live back in Montana. Thanks Pamela wonderful book great read.

Amazing Romantic Novel. This book has me hooked on the series, This twisted romance really makes you want to read more and more and MORE! Molly and Christian are the perfect couple with this romantic set up by gramps it is all you want in a romance where they just suddenly fall in love

So close. I really liked the idea behind this book. The story line was different to ones I had read before and it really had potential...but unfortunately I felt it was extremely descriptive and not very emotive. I really didn't feel like I got a sense of romance or even of who the characters were. I don't think I will read the next one.

Six months in Montana. A delightful tale full of delicious food and sweet people. The great idea of an assistant manager of a high class hotel running a Bed and Breakfast. The characters are fleshed out with a loveable quirks even the jealous wicked ex-girlfriend.

Six Months In Montana. Story line is a bit flat. Needed more character development and it felt rushed.

Six Months in Montana. An okay read.

Mr. I have read six months in Montana and I could not put it down. I enjoyed how Pamela Kelley writes, it is very down to earth, just the perfect amount of information to give a pleasant view of surroundings.

Six months in Montana. Excellent read, loved the story line!

A nice story.... A feel-good story.

Conflict?. There was no driving conflict or real chemistry between the main characters, so the story felt a bit flat to me.

Six months in Montana. Came across this book by accident and l am happy to say l truly enjoyed. Relaxing on a holiday break with a good book is the best therapy so thank you Pam. The topper was one of the recipes mentioned in the book at the end. I will try it again it out when l get home
