A New Beginning. I'm so happy that Anne has brought back my favorite character, in what will no doubtedly be a new era of Chronicles! The breakdown of characters & storylines was helpful after such a long break between tales! I excitedly anticipate the next book!

Disappointing. I didn't find the story to be on par with the chronicles; interesting backstory and biographical data but it was not how I expected the chronicles to be reopened. I don't know whether to prepare for another book or for the series to end again.

Wondrously delicious!. I read the bulk of the Vampire Chronicles during the 90s and fell in love with the writings of Anne Rice. This book is particularly compelling and I recommend it highly.

The Dark Gift.... Just in time for Halloween Anne Rice reawakens our best preternatural friends and the anti-hero we've loved from the beginning of the true vampiric history...Lestat!

Prince Lestat. Sooo glad Anne Rice is back with her Vampires. She's an artist of the genre. The book has so many characters I wish they were listed in the front of the book instead of the end. Even though I have read all her books, I couldn't remember them all. Great book.

The Return of Lestat at Last!. I'm crazy about this book. Being a full time college student, it is very difficult to read as much as I'd like; however, upon the release of Prince Lestat, my curiosity took hold. My intention was to read the sample just to see what I thought of it. To my sudden surprise, I realized I had been reading for several hours and the sample simply wasn't enough. I was so deeply involved with the story that I just couldn't put it down.

All good things come to an end, bad ones too.. Personally, I enjoyed this book very much. I didn't go into it believing it should be like the first 4 novels of The Vampire Chronicles. As an avid reader of authors from many walks of life, I see my favorite authors change with time and personal loss. The change reflects in their work. It's inevitable. I enjoyed seeing not an end for Lestat and his Dark Court, but a culmination of all the characters brought to life by Anne Rice in this epic vampire tale. The fist four novels reflected so much strife and conflict from loss. These newer novels simply take you on a journey begun by Rice's transformation shaped by her personal insights and hopes for loved ones here and gone. I chose not to take it so personally. This book is simply a story. It entertained me. It was worth it.

Carious. What is the first brood and who started it

Preternaturally written book!. I can’t wait for Book 12! Love, love, love Anne Rice!

So disappointed. I read this book when it was first published, and I have to say, I find it hard to believe Anne Rice even wrote it. Perhaps she didn't. The prose is all wrong; it's utter BS. I adore most of her works. This comes off like a Jr. high girl let loose with a word programmer. Sorry. Tripe.

Prince Lestat. Fabulous could not put it down! Please write another one soon. Loved all of the vampire books!

Prince Lestat. I was so excited as I have read all her vampire books and loved them so I got the sample and was really disappointed will not buy the book. I really wanted it to be more like them.

awesome. great return to lestat

Good, but not great.. I am an old time fan of Anne Rice and am completley in love with many of her characters. Can you imagine my excitement when sitting in a coffee shop I realize that she has gone back to her roots!! I didn’t even download the book. I downed my coffee and wait to the book store to buy a hard copy version! However, I have to say that while it is worth while reading if you are a fan, it was not great. She spent most of the book setting up the ending. While this seems plausible, several hundred pages were a waste of time and added nothing to this story or the overall series. A nice touch was having the final chapter written in Louis’s words since he started the chronicles.

Prince Lestat. Another amazing book by the amazing Anne Rice! Spellbinding! It was over way to soon, I couldn't put it down. As I drew close to the end, a panic and sadness overtook me, I didn't want it to end.. please Anne, tell me you're working on the next one.

Prince Lestat. Was hard to follow in the beginning as I was remembering but soon became lost on the story. Did not like the ending, however I realize it left us wanting to read the next book. Hope the new book comes out quickly. I am anxious to read it. I would give it 5 stars.

Prince Lestat. Dearly love Anne Rice's early work. I hate to say that this addition to the chronicles left disappointed and wanting. This was a waste of a read. Maybe that was the point of it, to leave the reader wanting to know more about the ancients introduced in this "novel". As much as I would like to know, if she does follow up with others, I would probably not waste my time on them.

Stunning. I applaud the talented Anne Rice for returning to her vampire novels.

Unreadable.. Dreadful. By the time you get through all the self-aggrandizing backfill, to what little plot there is, you don't care.

Disappointed. I've read the rest of the Chronicle books and this by far the slowest, toughest read. There were a few interesting highlights but I found myself flipping through pages to finally get to the end.

Great chapter. An other great chapter in the vampire chronicles

Anne Rice is Amazing. Anne Rive is amazing but this book was a bit slow, hope to see more build from it though in her better writing style.

definitely no "True Blood" Rice is the Queen of the Damned. Just finishing the sample and.... It doesn't matter how it ends. Anne Rices' brilliant writing takes me back to her Lestat series, and I am enjoying every page. The beautiful and (sometimes ugly but real) descriptive words convey so much for those looking for more than a teenage romance. Thank you Anne for transporting me to other times and places and sharing your amazing insight.

Prince Lestat. Very good read!

Hard to keep reading. I have been a huge fan of Ann Rice’s previous work, particuarly her Vampire Chronicles. I was very excited to to see this book was coming out. So far, it has been a struggle to read. I’ve had to make myself sit down and read this and it is usually for no more than a few pages at at time. This writing is quite tedious. I don’t know what happened to the magic.

Tedious.... I loved Anne Rice's writing in the Vampire Chronicles even though I felt that none were as strong as "Interview with the Vampire". In contrast to her earlier work which I couldn't put down, this book is a very tedious read, I have had to force myself to continue to read with the blind hope that it has to get better. So far I am struggling to get past Part 2 Chapter 5. There is nothing compelling in the storyline and I have purchased and read two other books by different authors since buying this book and I am not motivated to try to struggle through this story.

Very slow. This was quite a let down. As an avid fan over the years this new book was so slow, introduced far too many characters and wasted a great premise. The ending was quick after the prolonged and tedious buildup. All in all it was meh...

Love Lestat.... I love Anne Rice. I am very surprised that she wrote about Lestat again. OOOhhhh, I can’t wait.

Prince Lestat. Not as compelling as earlier novels by Rice. I preserved hoping it would evolve but that reward was not to be found in these pages. AS

Read only if Invested. This book will not stand on its own. It's pretty much just for people like me who have read the series, some over the course of decades. Not near the same stuff as "The Queen of the Damned", but I guess it's sort of ties things up. Readable, but nothing of note.

Hard to Read. So I have read a few of the reviews and I think people are upset because of a particular part of the book. I am upset myself but like her vampires she has put the vampires of old into modern times. The particular portion which I will not go into was just bad. The lead up to it wasn't good enough for it and how and why it happened wasn't good enough for me. I still feel it fit the chronicles

Brat Prince grows up. I have read many books that Anne Rice has published, but this is the most recent. I did enjoy this book because it brought to life again many characters I love - Lestat, Louis, & Armand. I was intrigued with the storytelling and points of view. I think, however, it was rushed to a conclusion that was inevitable. Would have been great to expand the story post climax to bring in more depth and emotion. Hope to read more from Anne and Lestat in the future.

Lestat’s NEW Journey. Once again Ann Rice brings us into the world of her preternatural vampires. This book takes us on Lestat’s journey into his next faze of his immortal life that of “prince” of the vampires. I do not want to spoil the book but lets just say that Lestat comes into his own and takes the next step in his the brat Prince and then at the end of the book he becomes the Prince of the undead. The book is layered with Ann Rice’s Vampire vocabulary and we see her touch on many of her beloved characters of the supernatural realm. We find out how her vampire realm copes with technology and the world community at large. We get a sense of how Lastat has changed the vampire world with his music and how he is viewed in it. Over all it’s a good book and for those who want to know how Lestat is doing we see how he is surviving in the world of the undead. Along the way we see how he has become more sensible and has grown out of his Brat like fase and Attitude to become a states man of the undead.

Into the Light. What a great tale! Our vampires have evolved as a species and are now rejecting the lore that has relegated them to all things evil. What a great twist from the Master of the genre! Not much of a stretch to see Lestat and his crew hanging out with the Cullens now that everyone has come to into the light.... Great Book!

Drawn out. The book tells the story of Amel, the spirit who possessed Akashsa, to make the first vampire. In this novel, Amel comes into consciousness in Mekare, and wrecks havoc around the world by destroying vampire covens. And it's up to Lestat to restore peace. Although I long awaited another novel by Rice, this was the worst book of her vampire chronicles. At roughly 750 pages, only the last 150 or so have any discernible plot--the rest background told from various points of views or redundant glossaries/summaries/prefaces. Seriously, if you had any interest in purchasing this book, you'd already know the terminology Rice has invented. The book is littered with redundancy in background information (sometimes losing the point that Lestat is the main character, hence the title) and words like "preternatural." This book could have been so much more.

Vampire ennui. I had to stop reading. A tired and lifeless book.

Prince Lestat best book in the series since..... Prince Lestat best book in the series since Queen of the Damned. I have enjoyed all the Vampire series and loved all her books but this is the best one in a long time. The others are good but this is just well thought out and complex. Great book!

Prince Lestat. Enjoyed.

Welcome Back Prince Lestat. As usual Anne Rice has never let me down! I am surprised that this novel was a little lighter than the previous darker ones but I am pleased and end enjoy a happy ending. I can’t wait for the next one! Anne rice is the reason I became interested in writing.

Loved it. Great read! I love Lestat and I hope there are more chronicles about him in the future!

Prince Lestat. A delicious book. My hero is back. All hail Anne Rice!!! Anne please continue to write about Lestat Louis and Marius. What a wonderful group of characters. Lestat is my hero!!! Finally I got my wish, Anne brought Lestat back. All is well with the undead world. Can't wait for the next books! A fan and fellow New Orleanian. Much praise and love. Sheila

Prince Lestat. If you are an Anne Rice fan, this is a must read! It has been SO long since we heard from many of these characters. The book kept me on the end of my seat, never wanting to put it down.

20 yr fan. I just got a hold of this book 5 years after it’s released and I am kicking myself for not having already read it loved it from cover to cover... long live Prince Lestat

Prince lestat. Wow, another wonderful novel, I have always loved this series, this new addition does not disappoint , the gathering of all the ancients so reminiscent of another great book of this series. Ann Rice you still got it!

A Classic Perfected. As an avid Anne Rice follower how my heart has come to see Lestat grow and love so deeply Anne's beloved Lestat. Anne does complete justice to all her creation, showing writers out there that each book is a creation that must be cherished and revered. Thank you for yet another wonderfully written book, keep up the excellent work!!!!

Mediocre at best. Was excited that Rice was coming back to Lestat's story. Even though she swore she'd never go there again since she re-found her Catholicism.... That worked well.. Anyway, imo the book wasn't up to her usual storytelling. Wait till the price drops a couple dollars before jumping in..

Amazing job Anne Rice!!. I was overjoyed to finally hear from the brat Prince himself. I could not stop reading and was ever eager to finish. I'm very happy with the outcome and love Prince Lestat more than ever! I can't wait for the sequel Blood Paradise!

Prince Lestat. Having waited a long time for the return of Lestat and the whole vampire family this volume does not disappoint!

Anne Rice returns to her Savage Garden. For the first book in the Vampire Chronicles in 10 or so years, I tip my hat to Anne Rice for taking me back. The book is not without flaws, but as a Re-boot, I feel it amply repairs the damage that happened all those years ago. Like one of my favourite characters in her vampiric world (no, I will not reveal who), I believe with this book Mrs. Rice has found life again in the world she magically created for us. Re-reading the other books is not necessary, but for new readers...ones who have been christened by either "sparkly" vampires, or ones with ninja fighting skills, I would recommend reading the first 3, Tale of the Body Thief and Memnoch first. This book references many of her other works and brings back characters we know and love. It also introduces new characters that are intriguing and lovable as well. If Anne Rice chooses to continue the chronicles with her new vigor, and does not fall back into the formula that seemed to be the theme of the later books, she can certainly count me as a returning member of the tribe.

Thanks Anne. Thanks Anne, ive read every every Vampire Chronicles, the hybrid books, and this one is your best. The Brat Prince is better then ever!

No!!. What is this? bad
