What Lies Beneath Book Reviews
What Lies Beneath by David Archer Book Summary
Fresh out of high school and off to college, Cassie thought she had the world by its tail, and then she met Mike. Tall, handsome and a police detective to boot, he swept her off her feet and into a whirlwind relationship that led to an engagement ring.
But things aren't always as they seem, and Cassie comes to discover that Mike has a dark side. When she learns just how dark it can be, she comes face-to-face with the greatest forward she could imagine, and it leaves her burned and scarred for the rest of her life.
Cassie isn't one to wallow in misery. She takes her experiences and a degree in psychology and sets out to help other women avoid the kind of thing that happened to her, but then one of her clients comes to her in desperation. Her abusive husband has kidnapped her daughter, and it's up to Cassie to find the girl before it's too late.
Of course, then the only trick is how to survive.

What Lies Beneath. David Archer. Cassie a young lady volunteers her time at a clinic as a type of social worker counseling women who were abused by their husbands. Cassie and her best friend Abby were abducted by her financee a homicide detective and his partner. They are both serial killers. Cassie has found the tapes they took of the women they had both murdered. Her fiancee dosen’t want them harmed so his partner shoots him and pours gasoline over Cassie and Abby and the floor of the building they are in. He then throws a match on the floor just as the police arrive at the location who now know both officers are serial killers. They rescue both of they women who were seriously burned but Abby dies of her injuries. What unfolds is a series of high risk adventures that Cassie becomes involved in helping abused women. A fantastic read!! Enjoyed immensely!! My highest recommendation!!
What Lies Beneath. Very good book
Loved it. The book was great with many different mystery’s.
Most excellent. For a mystery it went on slowly but steadily. I only put it down when I fell asleep. Compared to other recent mysteries I’ve read there weren’t loads of typos and poorly written phrases. It was a real pleasure to read. More please.
David Archer does it again. A while ago I stumbled upon the Noah Wolf books and really loved them, and since then I have been unable to wait for the next to arrive. Now he has made an equally intriguing character in Casey. I loved the book, Archer has a knack for drawing you in to the story. This book had some nice twists and turns and was almost like 3 books in one Casey background, pivotal moment and then life after. Together it makes for a great read you do not want to put down and if you do you will be excited to get back to it. Another successful adventure, give it a try.
Editor, please... The same story is told and retold so many times I lost track. Needs a serious editor. Good premise but needs pruning.
What Lies Beneath. A real page turner. I didn’t want to put it down.
What Lies Beneath. Omg absolutely wonderful mystery!!!!
Great Book. It’s long, but definitely worth the time.
What lies beneath.. I enjoyed reading this book. What started off as a rather frivolous romance turned into a skilled development of character and response to real life issues. I strongly recommend What Lies Beneath to every reader interested in real life social issues.
Beneath líes. I liked very entertaining can’t stop reading
What lies Beneath. Fabulous story line and an amazing lead. What an awesomely entertaining and engaging read. Had trouble getting started but once I got past the forth chapter I’ve barely been able to put it down. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Good reading.
Wow. Brutally honest. This story gently captures your interest and then the tension just builds rapidly from there. Very hard to put down.
Domestic abuse saga. This is something I’ve had to deal with from some of my fosters. It is a fearful issue scarring children permanently. Matters not whether it is physical, sexual, verbal, psychological, or ignoring, all are permanent disabilities! That is why my home was open to anyone who needed a place to be fed, loved, and housed temporary or more permanently. I do not regret that decision.
Good story ideas, bad execution.. Everyone has a certain preference to how they prefer their books to be. However, I found that this book was particularly hard to follow at times. Each ‘stage of life’ that we see Cassie go through is short-lived and then it seems as if we are on to the next part of her life so quickly. I wish each of these experiences that she had gone through been delved into with more detail. Each individual story line was entertaining, but it could have had more suspense leading into the reveal or there could have been a slower progression. We were also introduced to characters throughout the book that were never mentioned in later sections of the book, unknowing whatever happened to them. For example, when Cassie was living in the dorms the second time around, her new roommate during that time was considered to be her ‘best friend’ and her family took her in and they spent Christmas together, etc., but we never hear what happened with their friendship or how they ended up going their separate ways. Like I said, I enjoyed the little storylines individually, I just wish there were some loose ends that were wrapped up in the story in order to make the book seem like a whole rather than put into sections.

Thrilling. I found this book so exciting! The way it deals with such difficult situations, but spins them into positive outcomes. I love how some good always comes out of the bad situations, it made me feel inspired! I really enjoyed this.
Excellent read. Entertaining and drew me in from the start.
Out of the gate strong and then.... This novel started great. Domestic abuse and gaslighting are issues that need to be discussed more. Hence the three stars. Otherwise, I think the author could have made a whole brilliant book out of the first half of this novel, because after that this book just went ... blergh. Had a hard time finishing it because frankly I was bored.
What Lies Beneath. I never fail to enjoy David’s books. As a former social worker myself, I recognise the research he has done, I have been in difficult situations with clients. Relationships between client and worker are based on trust and respect for each other. I am looking forward to reading more of Cassie’s ‘adventures ‘? A great read , David Archer never disappoints. Sincerely Bill Morgan an avid fan.
Got to love a good easy read!. Brilliant read, great little page turner! Didn’t take long to get through so looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Exciting from start to finish!. This is agreat book, with unimaginable tragedies happening to the victim. Without giving too much away, this story has many twists and turns and is gripping throughout. Very well worth aread!

What lies beneath. Fabulous great read
Boring & unbelievable. The story drags on. I didn’t even make it half way through. So many holes in the story making it totally unbelievable
What Lies Beneath. Quite a different & suspense filled story, it certainly different from most, but still managed to keep me turning page after page. A very unique storyline & anyone who likes crime & suspense should add to their list of books to read. You’ll find yourself reading a very unusual storyline, which tends to break away from the norm, especially when looking for crime & suspense that comes from a different angle entirely

Why???. I can't understand why this book has so many stars; totally unbelievable
Getting Books. Great book I would love to read more of this particular series but only available to Kindle not Apple Books 😢
What Lies Beneath. I got to page 40-something before my rage boiled over. This is the most racist drivel I’ve seen published in years. I’m deleting this book and blacklisting the author.
Excellent. Page turner kind a story
David Archer. All of the books that I have read from this author are great. It is difficult to put the book down once started.
