The Noise Book Reviews
The Noise by James Patterson & J. D. Barker Book Summary
In this cinematic thriller from a New York Times bestselling author, two sisters must fight for their survival after a natural disaster in the Pacific Northwest.
In the shadow of Mount Hood, sixteen-year-old Tennant is checking rabbit traps with her eight-year-old sister Sophie when the girls are suddenly overcome by a strange vibration rising out of the forest, building in intensity until it sounds like a deafening crescendo of screams. From out of nowhere, their father sweeps them up and drops them through a trapdoor into a storm cellar. But the sound only gets worse . . .

Boring. This is one of the worst ever.
The Noise. Although generally a big fan of James Patterson, I was deeply disappointed in this book. Research to lend even a modicum of believability was sorely lacking. Throughout, the dots simply did not connect: physiology, biology, physics, information technology, military rank structure, etc. This was a total bust.
Zombie Apocalypse meets The Exorcist. Not sure if this was was more Patterson or more Barker, but I very much enjoyed it. While it got off to a slow start, it picked up in intensity quickly and kept me curious as to how it would all play out. good summer sci fi thriller. Hope these 2 collaborate again soon - perhaps a spy/detective story.
Thrilling. This book was an epic edge of your seat adventure!
Not up to par. Loose ends, no ending, things did not add up so it was very frustrating. No explanations for some of the things that went on
The Noise. I am a die-hard Patterson fan. Love, love, love them allā¦EXCEPT this one. It was just awful. Being a native Oregonian and living in the shadow of Mt Hood for 25+ years, I was looking forward to this one. I kept reading, hoping to find some redeeming value in itā¦.very disappointing. James, please ditch this genre of story.
A waste of time. This book is far below his usual standard. Most of it is like a new horror movie being produced today. Very little probable detail and a lot of things that are not good writing. Disappointing.
Decent but too long.. Tedious at times, decent storyline
Noise. Just to far fetched, but finished it.
Terrible. The worst Patterson book Iāve ever read.
Great book. Totally enjoyed this book, was hard to put down. Read in one weekend, which is fast for me.
Great read!. Weāll written .. gripping book! Couldnāt put it down!!
Donāt waste your time reading this. This is one of the worst books Iāve ever read. Totally unlike anything the authorās written. Patterson should stick with his strength.
Surprisingly engaging. Itās not typical Patterson to be sure, and it took me 2 readings to truly enjoy it, but thereās something strangely engaging about this book and all the moving parts.
Confusion. I had no clue what was actually happening until the last 1/4 of the book. I was having bad dreams while reading, I had to read it quickly
The Noise. Worst Patterson I ever ATTEMPTED to read.
The noise. Horrible. Not up to par
The Noise. Ludicrous.
Compulsive read. This book was preposterous, inventive and outrageously fun to read. I read til I A.M. and finished it the next morningš¤Ŗ
Patterson?. Could not believe this was a James Patterson novel. But, I enjoyed the total change of pace from the detective mode. Another BUT, the suspense built and built then out of nowhere came the end! Left me with too many questions!
Scary like Stephan King. Great change of pace from his usual detective novels. Reminded me of a Stephen King book, The Cell.
Very strange read. Sorry I purchased. Boring, boring, boring Not Pattersons usual
