If You Like Crichton You'll Want To Read This. Crichton would never be confused for high literature but this definitely has it's place for fans of science speculation. He and Stephen King both have their touch on the pulse on what makes people afraid. Crichton nearly always wrote about science gone wrong, whether it be bad doctors, arrogance among scientists, or in the case of this book a combination of types of hubris. Even if you lack a science background it all sounds so possible. You don't need to understand genetic algorithms or artificial life nano technology to enjoy this. Sorry he's gone.

Chilling. the thing that makes most scary stories succesful is that they take something you know very well and turn it upside down. The thing that makes Mr.Crichton's novels scary is that he takes technology that is completly possible, and then ponders, "What if it went wrong?" By far a very scary and freakish concept, with a twist on the villan( correction: villanS) that makes your skin crawl. The first person view is also quite helpful, since third person stories can't tell the emotion and feeling of the main charecter. Michael Crichton will be severely missed by all literature and motion picture fans alike.

Michael = awesome. Love his books and this one is at the top. If you're reading this, stop and download it

Best book I've ever read.. An incredible book. It started me on Chrichton. A great author, but the plot twist at the end seems kind of irrelevant.

Fast Mover, Great read!. This was a great read that grabs your attention from the start. I would have like a better epilogue but all in all a good read. I wish Mr. Crichton was still around to write these types of books.

Brought me back to reading after 10 years. After 10 years of always being to busy to read. This book within the first page had me glued, and brought me back to reading.

SciFi. Crichton does science fiction as good as anyone. He is very good at blending fact with fiction, blurring the lines of reality so well you'll want to do your own research to find out what's real and what's fiction.

Loved it. I absolutely loved this book. Similar to his other work in that he welds technology with fiction in such a way that makes you ask if he made it up or if it really happened and he's the only one that knows about it. Truly a signature piece for Crichton. My only possible complain would have been that it's in first person (not my favorite style) that, however, did nothing to stop me from being glued to this book. I've read it several times now and still can see new things

All Time Favorite. Read this book in high school and I was hooked. It has a great plot and interesting story. I read it again recently and it was just as good as I remember.

Great book. Great book, just one point missed- Jack wanted to catch the swarm. The swarm kept coming to the lab. They kept it from entering. Why not make a facility where you'd allow it to enter and then trap and kill it? Besides this little flaw- great book!!!

Great Read. Personally I'm more of a Jeffrey Archer fan, but M Crichton hit it out of the park. Great entertainment while being somewhat educated at the same time. Read it in 2 days.

Great read. I hadn't read a Crichton novel in a while and was glad to find this one before a vacation. I started to read it one night when I couldn't sleep, and then I couldn't put it down. Great read, similar to Sphere in some ways. I loved it. Definitely would recommend it!

A fantastic read!. This book is a page turner and will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Another masterpiece by Crichton!

Technical but worth it.. The premise and plot were intriguing and as always Crichton is a good story teller. However I struggled at first to maintain interest because of the in depth technical explanations. If those could have been simplified and shortened it would have been a better read. That being said it was still worth the investment of time in the end.

A quick heart-thumping read with no surprises.. The main problem with Prey is how stupid the main character is for a supposed brilliant guy. Very early on in the story the "twist" became apparent and from that moment on it was bothersome that Jack hadn't figured it out. A quick heart-thumping read with no real surprises.
