The Nearest Exit by Olen Steinhauer Book Summary

Milo Weaver has nowhere to turn but back to the CIA in Olen Steinhauer's brilliant follow-up to the New York Times bestselling espionage novel The Tourist
The Tourist, Steinhauer's first contemporary novel after his awardwinning historical series, was a runaway hit, spending three weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and garnering rave reviews from critics.

Now faced with the end of his quiet, settled life, reluctant spy Milo Weaver has no choice but to turn back to his old job as a "tourist." Before he can get back to the CIA's dirty work, he has to prove his loyalty to his new bosses, who know little of Milo's background and less about who is really pulling the strings in the government above the Department of Tourism—or in the outside world, which is beginning to believe the legend of its existence. Milo is suddenly in a dangerous position, between right and wrong, between powerful self-interested men, between patriots and traitors—especially as a man who has nothing left to lose.

The nearest exit. Run of turmoil spy story.

The Nearest Exit. Excellent. Gripping sequel to The Tourist. Olen writes a great spy novel. No superhero stuff, just real life "in the trenches" true grit. Make sure you read The Tourist first.

Rounded Up. I gave The Tourist 4 stars. This book was closer to 3.5 stars, but I like the author so I rounded up. The plot had too many loose theories to chase. I felt like I was being led by the author instead of the protagonist. Excess complexity is not a replacement for a strong plot. Great author. I will read more of his books, but this one was not as strong as I had hoped.

Great but....... Loved the book! Hated the ending..... Hope there is more to come!

The nearest exit. a great read !! Could not put this down !! This novel could have ended like so many others , but did not .Bravo!

The Nearest Exit. Another entertaining Milo Weaver adventure. There are plenty of twists and turns to the story line, in keeping with the authors wry sense of humor.

Now what.. I devoured this & The Tourist, but now I want to find more contemporary spy thrillers like this one. I've already read the Millenium Trilogy... What should I read next?

Great book. Highly recommend!
