Predictable. Nice happy ending beach read. Funny, but needed editing, many parts were too long and got boring.

Everything I could want in a romance novel!!. As a Curtis Sittenfeld admirer, fanatic of SNL and sketch comedy, and lover of romance novels, I had high hopes for ROMANTIC COMEDY - come to find that it was all I could hope for and more. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it before I could even think to focus on doing anything else. When it comes to comedy writing, Sally oozes confidence, but when it comes to her looks, she can't fathom the idea that someone better looking than her could be attracted to her - not to mention a handsome and famous singer! But how many times will Noah let Sally push him away until Noah decides he's gone for good? I loved Noah (and unabashedly fell head over heels for him *insert dreamy sigh here*). I loved Sally (and found her very, very relatable to a point it's almost uncomfortable - in a good, eye-opening way). And I loved Noah and Sally for each other. I was addicted to their tension, love, and connection from the very beginning. I so appreciated the reminder that it is up to us to decide what kind of love we are worthy of receiving. I loved that the first part is over the course of a week of Sally and Noah meeting while Noah is hosting the live sketch comedy show "The Night Owls," the second part is an ongoing email exchange between the two, and the third part...well I don't want to give it away. No one does tasteful, smart and wit quite like Curtis Sittenfeld. Brilliant, superb story and writing. What an honor it was to witness Sally and Noah's love and watch it unfold.

Meh 😑. I was hoping for more Romance less politics Or maybe COVID times are still too fresh for me 🤣🤣 First time reading from this author.

Skip. I listened to this book, so maybe it was partly the voice 🤷🏻‍♀️ but really, the story was just lame and basic to me 😬

Not Her Best. Clunky writing & uninteresting scenarios clearly drawn from real life celebrities and pop culture. Why are 10 pages describing the set-up of a fictional SNL included when the readers are familiar with the late-night show in real life? Painfully boring in places and could have used editing and revision.

Good storyline, but ruined by wokeness. Overall I enjoyed the storyline premise of this “romantic comedy”. I was also intrigued by the backstage workings and preparation of a Saturday Night Live type show and how it’s pulled together so quickly each week. With that being said, I was disappointed in the “wokeness” sprinkled throughout the book. I found it unnecessary to the plot, and felt the author was just doing it out of her own white guilt. This was the first book I’ve read from this author and may be the last if this is the norm in her books.

Too many rants. I couldn’t get passed the feminist and political rants. The author alienated half the country in the first 30 pages.

Clearly inspired by Colin Jost and Scar jo. But still enjoyable nonetheless

Sorry I purchased. I can’t finish it. I’m not even halfway through it and sick of the politics being brought up constantly. I’d feel the same way no matter which way they leaned.

Great book!. These characters are so relatable and well done! I usually don’t like romance novels but this was very enjoyable and funny, too.

Horrible Book. Horrible! I could not even finish this book. Do not waste your time or money.

Ugh.. Sorry, I didn’t like this book at all. I found it cloying. If she talked about the writers table or the writers room one more time I thought my head would explode, it felt claustrophobic. And the romance was like the internal (and external) dialogue of a high school girl.

LOVED IT!. Seriously one of my favorite books I’ve ever read!

It’s a yes for me& should be for you. Main character is a comedy skit writer on a show that’s like SNL- so it is blatantly liberal. And love interest is this famous hot Singer/songwriter. But it’s a funny, well written romance. I wanna say more but idk if it will be spoilers. Basically the love interest doesn’t need therapy- he’s a grown well adjusted and communicative man- bordering too much but in like a refreshingly different way to read a male love interest. Also main character goes on rants, both in her narration but also in her communications with others- which is cool to see a character so fleshed out. It feels like a true story that would make even the most cynical of us believe in finding the one.

This is the most vacuous and boring book I’ve ever read. How did she not bore herself writing it?
