Refreshing. This was a great read. The story line you can guess, the big bad protector and meek girl will fall into love BUT allllll the twist and turns made it a new spin on a old story line. I love that the female lead finds her own voice. The professor in Texas? Omg hello that’s just like my own. All around good read. Good ending with the perfect cliffhanger for more.

Excellent read. Well written, believable. Kept you turning the pages.

Sexy and Compelling Read!. Man, I love this series! I have missed these characters. You just never know what to expect from this series. Just when I thought things were all wrapped up, bam! Everything goes haywire again… and the mystery deepens. Just how deep does this thing go? I can’t wait to find out! I was hooked on this book from page one and remained riveted to the very last word… and those last words were a doozy! I found this book to be impassioned and intriguing, romantic and heartfelt, provocative and thrilling, and utterly enthralling. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sexy and compelling read. *I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

Wow what a ride!. Wow, what a roller coaster ride this book is! I enjoyed this, the intrigue and depth of the deception is outstanding. Have no choice but to move on to the next book. I enjoyed the Harmless series which this was spun off from, so far this is my favorite. Go for it!

Meh. Just meh and frustrating you don't really ever get any answers to keep you hooked.

Shameless little con. I usually do not rate books. But, this one is different. I stayed up every night reading this book. Couldn’t put it down. When I drifted off I still had it in my hand. Like mysteries? Can’t go wrong with this one. Now for the next one. But maybe I better catch up on the sleep and housework first. Lol

A Shamelessly Intriguing Read. I voluntarily reviewed this Advance Reader Copy. You know that a book is good when you look up, realize that three hours have passed and you have no idea how that happened so quickly! Meli Raines is a skillful story weaver. Jane, from A Harmless Little Game, has been through the ringer since last we saw her. She’s in “protective” custody and her handler is Silas, also from AHLG. Her life is no longer her own and she is at the mercy of people whose agenda is not necessarily in her best interests. Knowing who to trust becomes a matter of life and death and the truth is shrouded in danger. All of the usual suspects from the previous series appear and the question that still remains unanswered is just WHO was behind what happened to Lindsay and is still going on. This was a wonderfully suspenseful story that has you desperate for more.

Sexy. Great book! Once you start reading it, you get very engrossed. Then before you know it, the book is over.

BEST AUTHOR EVER!!!!. Seriously I cannot stand reading, all through high school, and through my life. I never believe people when they said you have to find your perfect author. I have found mine finally. This storyline is amazing I have not been able to put it down and I have read all three books within a week and a half and I am pretty impressed with everything that comes out of this author!!!!

A Shameless Little Con. This is my kind of read. Mystery, action, some humor and all kinds of twists and turns. I didn’t want to put it down.

Gripping and Thrilling adventure. Wow this story just grips you and does not let go... Emotionally thrilling, action packed, heart pounding twists and turns not to mention the exciting cliffhanger. Jane is the most hated woman in America thanks to a all out media smear complain after she and her best friend (Lindsay) where kidnapped and she was accused of helping the kidnappers. She is broke and has had very thing and every one systematically striped from her life and is only living thanks to Lindsay's father providing her with shelter and a bodyguard. Silas Gentian is assigned to watch her 24/7 and keep her alive, he is also an employee of Lindsay's new husband. Very intriguing and complicated web of danger, deceit and betrayal of the deepest kind. Looking forward to the next story in this promising series.

OMG. Well what a story. This book follows on from a previous series, in this book Jane is the target. She is made to be a public enemy, there are lies being told about her and about her involvement in a crime. No one believes her and her life is in danger. This book has been left on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book

A good suspenseful read. A Shameless Little Con is a good suspenseful read and I enjoyed it very much. Although it is a spin off from the Harmless series, the author does a great job, in a really clever way, of bringing the reader up to date with the story and I believe it can be read without having read the previous series. The twists and turns of the storyline kept me glued to my seat, and the sizzling chemistry between Jane and bodyguard Silas Gentian was wonderfully written. At times, I did, however, feel there was a little too much of Jane’s internal dialogue and unnecessary travelling back and forth to The Grove. Just a small irritation, that didn’t take away from the story, but I would’ve preferred more conversation between the characters and less too-ing and fro-ing. Nevertheless, I found the plot engaging and Jane’s character brilliantly strong and witty, despite what life had thrown at her. Former tutor Alice, in particular, provided some great hilarity and I genuinely laughed out loud on more than one occasion. This is the first book of the trilogy, one which really sets the scene rather than provides answers and ends in one heck of a cliffhanger. Can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

Frustrating. This book has a pretty interesting story line. Unfortunately, all the characters act like they’re 12 year olds. Silas is annoying and in no way endearing, nor does he do ANYTHING to warrant Jane’s attraction towards him. Jane is a moron who is an emo attention seeker. And, seriously, what was up with her internal dialogue while they were on Silas’ couch? Tons of time wasted traveling to and from ‘The Grove’ (stupid freakin name) every time they finally changed location. And the plot twist at the end was so transparent, I had already guessed it during the first scene with Monica. Glad this first book was free, would hate to have wasted any money on it. Annoyed, as it is, having wasted time reading the whole book. Will definitely not be reading the other 2 books.

Part of a series of books. This book has a good story. However, it is a book that has a cliff hanger, you will need to purchase two more books to be able to find out what happens, I’m glad I got this book free as I didn’t realise it wasn’t a complete story and if I’d have paid for this book I would have been more annoyed. The story so far is a good plot but there is a lot of psychological waffling that to be honest made me skip a few pages.

Amazing. To me this is the fourth in this series and I’m loving them. I’ve pre ordered the last two and their release couldn’t come quick enough. You can tell these books are fantastic as it’s only taken me 4 days to read all four. Roll on the release of the next book

Twisting. This has kept me on the edge of my seat reading through the many twists in the plot. What an exciting ride. I can’t wait to see how the next book pans out. Definitely empathise with Jane being made to be the pawn in every plot

Awesome. This book was absolutely fantastic, awesome, brilliant... It captivates you from the very beginning. Edge of your seats drama. I couldn’t put it down. This author writes so beautifully that you feel as if you’re there in the story. I could go on but you need to read it for yourself. I loved it!!

Who’s the Con?. Another great story of intrigue, scandal and smouldering romance, continuing on from the first series.😀

Interesting mystery / suspense plot.. A well written story about Jane who is currently public enemy at the moment due to her involvement in the rape and kidnapping of her best friend and Senators daughter. Jane maintains she is not guilty and we learn pieces of the story throughout the book, but still left with many unanswered questions at the end. I will be reading the next one to find out! Secondary storyline is some sparks flying between Jane and her bodyguard Silas, who also has a few family issues to sort out.

It’s deep, dark, twisted, and complex. Who can you trust when the whole world believes you’re a monster? That’s the reality facing Jane now. As she fights nameless, faceless, accusers in an effort to prove her innocence, her life hangs in the balance because proving she didn’t do it might just uncover who really did. I’m used to reading the wacky fun published by this alter-ego’s author self. This is quite different in all of the best ways. It’s deep, dark, twisted, and complex. There’s moments of the author’s signature humor, such as a turbulent encounter in an airplane bathroom, but they serve to highlight how gritty the rest of the story is. I found myself nearly bawling at the unfairness of Jane’s plight. Even Silas’ family situation broke my heart. It has an abrupt cliff-hanger ending that’s left me gnashing my teeth in frustration, anxious to get my hands on the next book. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

Cliffhanger. Great story and characters. Worth the read, but be prepared to get all 3 books. There is zero resolution in the first book at all. I have a personal distaste for series like these, but still a good story.

Interesting story. This book is not in the usual genre I read, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The writing style is good and the characters are well developed. Writing in first person narrative often gives a better opportunity to describe personal feelings and the author uses this well.

Incomplete ending. Seriously! A great story line but after all the long drawn out story and psychobabble it ended like that?! Why not just say it’s half a story. Very disappointing.

Shameless little con. I will never read another book by this author. Why? Because I refuse to Buy/read another book to find the ending to the one I’m reading. Shame! What’s the matter? Not enough brain power to think of a reasonable ending?
