ЛЕОНИД АНДРЕЕВ СОБРАНИЕ СОЧИНЕНИЙ В ШЕСТИ ТОМАХ ТОМ I РАССКАЗЫ И ПОВЕСТИ 1898—1903 Леонид Николаевич Андреев (1871—1919) — выдающийся представитель русской литературы Серебряного века, прозаик, драматург, критик, публицист, родоначальник русского экспрессионизма. С момента публикации первого сборника рассказов Андреева не покидали лавры одного из властителей дум российской интеллигенции. Стена и бездна — ключевые образы во всем творчестве писателя. Волевое устремление пресекается жизнью повсюду. Написанное Андреевым обращено к тем тайным бессознательным глубинам человеческой души, где бесчеловечность обусловлена законами мироздания, а гуманность, любовь, справедливость с легкостью отбрасываются человеком. Звериное, первобытное естество скрывается в каждом человеческом существе. Внутренняя бездна, населенная монстрами разврата и насилия, изнутри давит на хрупкое ego человека. Литературный язык Андреева — напорист и экспрессивен, полон символов, а его произведения отличает резкость контрастов, неожиданные повороты сюжета в сочетании со схематической простотой слога. Творчество «сфинкса российской интеллигенции» наиболее заметно, наиболее вызывающе обособлено от всех литературных течений Серебряного века. Причудливые творения Андреева созданы в первую очередь для творческого читателя, который, по словам Набокова, «предпочтет глубинных чудовищ солнечным бликам на пляже». В первый том Собрания сочинений вошли рассказы и повести 1898—1903 годов.
