Up Country. Excellent story about Vietnam. I am a Vietnam Veteran that has returned their 16 times. Recommend this book to people that are going with me.

Up Country. For anyone who was in there late teens or early 20’s who had family members or friends who had served in Vietnam this is the most phenomenal read and this is my 3rd time reading Up Country. Kudos to DeMille for capturing an era in our history during tragic and dissent full times. God Bless those Veterans who served and returned to America to face the disgusting treatment they received by so many in the USA and abroad.

Up Country. Having spent 1968 "in country," I found this tour of Vietnam a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable journey. The story line was a roller coaster ride that never slowed until the last page. I will be recommending it to all my 'nam buddies.

Great. Absolutely could not put it down! I felt as if I were the one "Up Country"!!!

Wouldn’t recommend unless interested in Vietnam history. This book was interesting for a bit of Vietnam war history, but the storyline is so predictable. The relationship between the main characters was so awful and unrealistic it was hard to read sometimes.

Up Country. Page turner. Relevant. Sexy. Inviting. Go for it. Worth your time.

Outstanding read. It was difficult to put this novel down. I wish to thank the author for putting into words the descriptive feelings of a two TOD in-country Hospital Corpsman. I found the book to be authentic, original and true to the experiences one found in Vietnam during the 60's. Nelson, thank you for your service and welcome home!

Hard to put down. I read "The General's Daughter" after seeing the film. I found the lead character, Paul Brenner, interesting and the plot as compelling as in the film. When I found there was another 'Paul Brenner' novel I was eager to read it. There was only one problem, if I kept reading, I'd get to the end too soon! deMille's Vietnam is a wonderful blend of the past and the present. Like Brenner, the reader knows there is more to this mystery than we are told at the outset. The clues begin to flesh out the shape of the intrigue one revelation at a time. You can almost see ghosts as they float in front of Brenner's eyes. The arms of the conspiracy begin to wrap around you as completely as they do him. My one quibble? As a motorcycle rider, I got tired of Brenner "kicking the bike into gear.". You usually leave it in gear, sonit won't roll off the stand! Oh, and by the way, a 980cc bike isn't that big a machine.
