Great book. I recommend this book to anyone who wants action, it is amazing and is one of my favorite books, a must-read...

Ice station. The action was relentless and exhausting! Tore through those sections imaging the movie and how it could be pulled off, especially down in the cavern with the bull seals. The hero takes many lickings but keeps on ticking, an untouchable with a soft spot in his heart for the little math genius and her furry seal Wendy. Read in one day, hard to put down. Love how the author italisizes so much as gets all worked up in the sizzling heat of this action packed book. Loved it.

How many exclamation marks ARE there in this thing?. This was my first book by this author and it will also be my last. It was *very* clear to me that the author was envisioning a movie the whole time he was writing it. While some of the action was exciting, most of it was just ridiculously over the top. He could have taken out 60% of the stupid stunts, concentrated more on the story & character embellishment and still ended up with a great book. However! I have NEVER suffered through so many freaking exclamation marks in one document! in! my! entire! life! If I never see another one I could die happy. Rated this one star only because there is no designation for a half star. Discerning readers beware; for the rest of you who thought this was great--my condolences. Sincerely!

Fast & Fun Read. Not sure how "real" all the action was, but you literally could not catch your breath in between all the firefight and combat this book has. One dire strait after another. Normally, I do not enjoy military books, but I found this one very interesting and loved all the action.

Better than Clancey!. I used to read TC for my adrenaline rush. Now I read Reilly. Think Indiana Jones, Speed, and Die Hard. Ice Station is the first book of three (I think) with the main character - Scarecrow. All three are great. I didn't know anything about the book or the writer before I made this purchase. I chose wisely. Now, he's one of my favorites. I've read this one twice. Maybe my favorite all-time action thriller fiction.

Crazy stupid action, but mostly stupid. If you were awake in any of your high-school science classes, you will laugh at the implausable gadgets and plot devices introduced every 5-10 pages. For example, supercooled liquid nitrogen grenades that spread "gooey blue nitrogen" over everything in view. I would be entertained by the (apparently unintentional) humor if it wasn't for Reilly's reliance on things like this to advance the plot.

Thrill Ride. This was my first Matthew Reilly and I loved it! I'm a big fan of Cussler and Rollins and felt this was just as riveting. To be honest the only downside to this novel was there was almost too much action - I do not remember being this mentally exhausted after reading a book. The pace is pretty much non-stop which makes it the ultimate mind candy excursion.

Ice Station. The most implausible, ridiculous action adventure story of all time! I can't believe I choked this down. PLEASE don't make the same mistake that I did. Some think movies such as James Bond and Mission Impossible contain scenes that are so far from realistic the story negatively impacted. This has at least ten times more far fetched, impossible scenes as any book or movie I have ever experienced. Really bad.

Who needs action films when you can read a book like this!. I am a film student and get my adrenaline rush from watching action films. Most of them may only be eye candy but I love explosions and gun fights. I blame growing up on Die Hard, Rambo and every Schwarzenegger film out there. This book made me realize how satisfying it is to read an action thriller in a book. The detail is there, the characterization (that doesn't usually come included in a action film) is there, and the jaw dropping moments were there. By the end of the book, I wanted to read more Scarecrow. Thank goodness there are more books with him in them! If you want to read an action packed, fun, suspenseful book, check out Ice Station. I'm a fan of Matt Reilly because of this book.

Ice. Started to read and did not put it down! Great ... Great!

Utter dreck. I read this as a paperback on a plane and it was so bad I didn't even leave it in the seatback pocket. You get these tech thrillers for the details and the story. You expect the details to be accurate to sell the expectedly preposterous story. Apparently Reilly is either too lazy to do the research or thinks his readers are too stupid to notice. I also hope the ebook cleared up the astonishing number of typos and spell-check wrong word choices. Finally, even though the 'killer' killer whales are a plot device, anyone who's spent 10 minutes researching them knows that, in the wild, they are not a threat to humans.

Ice Station. Being that I'll retired Army/Navy, a Master Scuba Diver Instructor and I Wintered-Over 87-88 for me the book was fun but a bit far fetched. A good read and I'm now a Scarecrow fan. Enjoy, B.C.

Awesome book. This is a action packed book that never gets old I have read it for the third time now and like it just as much as the first time

Unreal. I am not a rabid reader, but I couldn't put this one down. It was awesome. Action every minute and definitely leaves you wondering what's going to happen next. I even felt actual emotion towards some of the characters. Loved it and I just downloaded another of his books.

Ice Station. Excellent book. Look forward to reading more from this author. It was very exciting and had me begging for more time to read.

One of my favorite books!!. Great, quick, intense read. Ive gone back and reread it several times and Always enjoy!

Ice station. Fun, good characters, somewhat wild in parts but well done, it was enjoyable. It was inexpensive as it was an older "best seller" which was a pleasant value added experience. It was a hard to put down read.

Ice Station Wow!. How long has it been since you stayed up late, really late, because you just had to know what was next? How about turning the page and being gob smacked every time? Willing suspension of disbelief? Of course. But what a ride!

A book worth rereading!. I first read this book in 2000 when I stumbled onto it at my local library. After I returned it I would always tell people about this amazing book I had found. 14 years later and the passion to reread the book kept bugging me. I am so glad that the book is available through iBook! It is a must read & a book worth sharing.

Best Book. I read Scarecrow Returns and said "this is the best book ever." I read Scarecrow and said this is the best book ever. Now I read this book and I am totally glued to the Scarecrow series. This is the first book and like it just as much as the others! How does he do it? I don't know how anyone could rate this 4 stars.

Are you kidding me?. OMG THIS IS AWFUL! Credulity and logic go out the window, down the street and gets on the entrance ramp to the Interstate. How did this get printed?

Awesome action packed thriller!. If this book isn't already a movie, it should be! I read this in just over one day (not non-stop, btw). The intrigue, betrayal, loyalty and perseverance of the characters is riveting. This is better than Jack Ryan.....sorry Harrison Ford. Every scene is written so that you completely visualize what is happening and yet keeps you guessing at the continuous obstacles / twists thrown at Scarecrow and his team. This is the first review I've written. I can't wait to read another Scarecrow book. Maybe Wendy will reprise her role? :-)

Worth the read. My boyfriend has read pretty much every Matt Reilly book and I finally picked one up. Worth it. Hooked. Action and adventure packed.
