I Hate it When Authors Over-Explain. I picked this book up after reading a glowing recommendation from Gillian Flynn. The concept was okay, but the author spent wayyyy too much space explaining everything to the reader, instead of letting us figure some things out ourselves. It was as if he thought his ideas were just SO ingenious that every single twist and hidden point had to be illumminated fully and dissected on paper, just to make sure we fully understood its genius. I hate when writers do that! Stop dumbing your work down for us! It takes out all the fun of reading a real crime novel.
