Couldn't put it down. My wife cautiously suggested I try reading this book. I'm not one for books that are in a series afraid it would be about Shades of Grey. After two chapters I was hooked. The story never bogs down and contains enough action on the story line to keep you coming back for more.

Love your books. I have read 2 and look forward to more

Good stuff!. I was a little concerned in the beginning but I kept reading. Tilly is a great main character and I really enjoyed her predicaments and her developing relationships with the Heller team.

Sweet enough.... A bit choppy writing from time to time, very predictable characters... But Tilly is kind of sweet and the chemistry between her and heller keeps it interesting - while pretty unrealistic.

Ridiculous book. I downloaded this book because it had many stars, but honestly, nothing is interesting. Story line: None Suspense: none Plot: none Writing style: horrible How on earth can this book be in the thriller section?? This is not a thriller. Enough said, just don't waist your time.

So, so. Somewhat good plot line. A little to repetitive and I can definitely do without all the promiscuity! It adds nothing to the plot.

Fun book. I just couldn't stop reading this book. Just the right amount of sexy, humor, drama and sentimentality. Heller is an enigma and the perfect compliment to Tilly's open book self. If you are looking for a fun read this is definitely a book you want to read.

Unfortunate much?. I found the book rather cool at start. It had been quite an enjoyable plot and the characters seemed interesting enough. Things got boring though when Tilly seemed to be intercepted by a drunk group of men (good looking mostly) every second day and kept falling face first into the floor. Way too much bosom emphasis too. Dull.

Totally addicted. Love this series!

Hooked!. Like a poor fish on a line! I don't care though, because I am eating it up and am going on the 4th book in the series. I really like that the protagonist is strong, yet vulnerable, realistic enough for me to relate to and cheer her on. It's nice that she can have all the drama and I don't have I suffer the consequences!

Don't start this series!!!!!!. The final book in the series or I should say next book #7 still isn't written and doesn't appear to be coming anytime soon. I downloaded the first for free then bought the next5 only to be left hanging! Great series but to be left hanging is a disappointment.

Heller. Laugh out loud funny. Touching in some places. Started out a little slow. Put it down for a while. Picked back up, enjoyed enough to check out book 2.

Great Series. In case you did not know this is a series, it is one one of the best I have ever read, and am a prolific reader.

Enjoyable with a tug of war love angle. -Surprisingly enjoyable book about a young woman by the name of Matilda Chalmers. We first encounter her being fired from an acting job in which she has to wear a watermelon costume, because she wouldn't accept the advances of her lecherous director. -We find that she's 25 and wanted to strike out on her own. She tried to become an actor, mainly because her close friend, Dixie was doing so. She lives with Dixie in a horrible apartment, which they share with two men, who they took on to help pay the rent. Faced with the prospect of having to return home with tail between her legs, she realizes that she has no choice but to get any job she can. -There's a security firm which is looking for someone to fill a position, and she decides to apply. We find that she's a very tall (about 6 feet), and very attractive woman, but she can be feisty and speak her mind when she has to. Having two older brothers of which one was always teasing, had helped develop that part of her personality. -She wears the only good suit she has, and goes on the interview, which is in a converted old warehouse building. She goes up what is an ancient freight elevator but it gets stuck mid floor and has to climb out, ripping and soiling her suit. The owner, who is the one that's going to interview her, comes out and pulls her out, and sees this extremely handsome, well built blonde man, who is probably over 6'6" tall. Though she tries to now leave, the owner, Heller, convinces her to be interviewed anyway. -In what she considers to be a horrible interview, where he points out her shortcomings, she's ready to leave, and as she gets up, a projectile is hurled through the window and, except for additional minor cuts, she narrowly escapes more serious injury. She gets ready to leave, and speaks her mind, but Heller, impressed at how she has handled the curve balls she's been thrown so far, hires her. -It turns out he needs her to assist him with closing deals with certain clients that are leery of him because of his size and/ or appearance. She turns out to be excellent, as she thinks on her feet very well, but makes promises which are hard for him to comply with, but the jobs come in. Because of the very high pay, it seems like a dream job, but, as part of her job requirements, she is to live in the warehouse, where there are several apartments, and must be available for when she's needed at any time. All expenses are paid, though, and she also gets numerous perks, including a free wardrobe, and beauty treatments at least once a month. -Continued assignments are given to her, which, on the surface seem very tame, but turn out to be a lot more dangerous. A serious attraction is building between Heller and Matilda (Tilly), but she doesn't want it to go there, because he's her boss. -She discovers that he can be ruthless at times, and fiercely protects the people who work for him, many of them picked up and psychologically damaged from abuse in their youth. He himself has secrets about his upbringing which he keeps to himself and won't reveal. -She develops a reputation in the firm of being a trouble magnet, but, how she handles her situations and learns to improve as she goes along keeps you reading. The tug of war that the author brings to Tilly and Heller's relationship is done well, but you see that this is just the first book of a series, and their relationship will have to survive other obstacles in the future. -Well written and keeps your interest.

An unbelievably gripping story. An unbelievably gripping story told by an amazing young lady. Ms Chalmers, Matilda, Tilly leads us from her poor, no friends life to a very intertwined, combative, and secretive existence with a group of men, Heller's Security and Surveillance.

Better than Stephanie Plum. I have read and enjoyed Janet Evanovich's series involving SP. I found Tilly more realistic and more interesting. I just bought the next book to learn more about Heller and Matilda.

Heller. Fun book. Good character development. Very entertaining. The rest in the series should be action packed also!

Blood Ties. After reading all three books in the Blood series and waiting for the fourth, I'm anxious to read the Hellers collection as well. Got the first one free and bought the second before turning a page in the first. Nixon's writing has me hooked. I read the three Blood books in as many days and can't wait to read what happens to Tess in the next book. I'm so hoping that she will kick Jakey to the curb and get involved with the Sarge. Great reading!!! I'll give my thoughts on the Heller series in a few days. Fast forward a few days. Now that I've read the first in the Heller series, I'm glad I bought the second book right away. Great reading!

Too many words that don't say a thing. I couldn't even make it through the first chapter, this book was THAT boring. There was over explanation of the most boring mundane things, like her crap job, costume, perverts apparently by the score, her crap home, and her narcissistic roommate. Yeah, THAT boring junk muddled the first part of the chapter. I couldn't even read more because I knew I would be skipping paragraph after paragraph just to get to the readable parts. Remember folks, sometimes in books, less is more.

Heller, J.D.Nixon. I wasn't expecting much since this was a free download, but I was still reading after 20 pages! It was different with an interesting cast of characters. I got hooked and plan to read The next Heller book.

Pulp Fiction. Immodest tawdry literary hooey. Crabbed fiction with a lingering guilty languor & an insipid employ to continue to the end.

Good read. I downloaded this because it was free and now I will also be buying the sequels. An easy, diverting read.

Seriously??!. At least have the decency to set the book in the 1950's if you are going to make the protagonist (female) so utterly dependent and defined by the strong male character. There is a good story but it's buried.

AMAZING!,. I cannot say how much I want to say thank you to JD Nixon for creating such a great series! After reading the brilliant "Little Town" series I couldn't resist reading more from the same author - and I wasn't disappointed! The story, characters and writing are superb throughout the whole Heller series and even after reading them all several times (because they really are THAT good!!) I am anxiously waiting for the next instalment in the 5th book coming out aug 2013. I wish I was Tilly and actually think I am a little bit in love with Heller myself!! Would recommend this book, and all books by JD Nixon, in a heartbeat! Don't get this if you want to sleep as you won't be able to put it down!

Extremely good and interesting. Wow this can't get any better, really JD Nixon has done a great job to make all these books. They are very interesting and heart taking at some times, you feel the feelings Tilly (Matilda) is feeling and how she is doing in a new action world when before she nearly didn't have a job. Heller. Fantastic book, made me laugh out loud in places. Well written and a great female character.

Heller. Highly addictive, interspersed with mixed morals. A compelling storyline, interesting characters who you will crave to discover more about. Forgetting the title is Heller and almost focussing on Tilly. So easy to immerse yourself into this book, like slipping into the rooftop hottub. I did not want it to end, thank god there are more titles to read!

Thoroughly Enjoyable. Brilliant series! Was great to read something that was easy to fall into, wasn't over-thought, but still has a witty style. Have read the 4 so-far and eagerly await the next. P.S. Maybe I'm a little biased because I'm a 25 year old 180cm tall woman, same as the lead character, but it's rare to find a fellow glamazon like that!

Brumby. No character development, basically no depth in story line. Would be more appropriately classified under Romance. Everybody is either gorgeous, fantastic or simply dreadful. Basically trash.

NoComment of Nunawading. Heller, by JD Nixon... what a great read! I have lost count of the number of times I've promised myself not to download any more "free" books at the iBooks Store. This unkept promise was based on the utter frustration I've experienced, attempting to read books by authors with little or no grasp of simple things like punctuation, grammar, correct use of pronouns, etc., so as to totally obfuscate their intentions in the first instance. Again, the promise was made in order to alleviate the continual frustration I experienced, often losing either interest, or alternately, losing the plot! Not so, JD Nixon and the tremendous "Heller" series, of which I have just completed the first in addition to purchasing the next two in the series... a very small price I was more than willing to pay (excuse the pun)! There can be no greater delight to an avid reader such as myself, than to discover a new author who's plot-lines not only engaged me and kept the pages turning, but an author who can spell, punctuate and understands such simple things as the difference between "your" and "you're"! Although im probably guilty here of preching to the converted, but It is often simple things that can bring a smile to a reader's face, so having concluded my gripe about some authors' lack of the basic tools of their craft, it was also with great pleasure that I share with you the delight I experienced in reading Heller... poignant at times, dark in parts, sometimes tragically sad, at others, amusing - some genuine "Laugh Out Loud" dialogue between the two primary protagonists, Heller & Matilda (Tilly), as well as being warm, humane, well-written and a truly interesting and well constructed plot. Though not necessary here, I'd like to mention one small difficulty I did experience... what genre would this most aptly describe this novel? It was not a crime novel, nor a thriller, in their true sense, though there were many glimpses, not a romance, though again that too was evident, and absolutely not "Chick Lit"! So, again, what genre... well how does a romantic, funny, sad, warm, crime, mystery, feel-good (until Heller inevitably enraged me on occasion) novel? Long-winded classification, but this merely demonstrates the talent and diversity of JD Nixon's approach! Overall a great read... an what made it even more special for me what's the fact that the author is a fellow Australian! I return to the above-mentioned thrill of discovering a new author, but must add that, with apologies, I use the term "new" only in so far as JD Nixon's work is NEW to me. Thank you "JD", I will continue to read the remaining books in the "Heller" series, then look forward to moving on to the "Little Town" series. I have already recommended "Heller" to several friends, who for some reason appreciate my recommendations, likely because they know I read so much, as well a very diverse range of genres, and their (thanks again JD, not there or they're, but their) reactions have been as excited as my own! You may note with some surprise that I seldom review any novels (given that I have so much to say on this occasion), usually making exceptions for some of the true debacles I detailed above, but felt absolutely compelled to share this great reading experience with as many others as possible... anybody failing to heed my advice does so to their own extreme detriment! Great job JD, you've moved well up toward to top of the list of my all-time favourite authors! Finally, and I'm certain that this is entirely by design rather than accident, having read "a bit about me" on Smashwords.com, it would appear that your reticence was somewhat reminiscent of your character Heller, when it comes to providing information about yourself / himself... perhaps, therefore, it wasn't too much of a stretch to have one of your principal characters "play his cards so close to his chest"??? Overall, in case my meaning hasn't been made sufficiently clear, loved it, loved it, loved it! I will keep reading, so long as JD Nixon keeps writing, thank-you again. And in the words of so many of these inane late-night infomercials as well as another Aussie icon, albeit in another field, "... do yourselves a favour folks and get a hold..." a JD Nixon book at the earliest opportunity! Not bad, not bad at all.. Easy read, couldn't put it down. On to the next on in less the 24 hours!!

Heller-needs a setting. I enjoyed reading Heller. My main frustration with this novel was the lack of a context that was not simply "the city". This nebulous place was, and is most likely a deliberate literary device to create a feel that this story could be taking place anywhere,in any city. This tended to create a vacuum in the novel and rob it of texture and depth. Readers do not mind being grounded in a realistic setting, especially in this genre. The names of streets, the smells and sounds of an urban setting add depth and allows the City, to become another character, continually in flux and change, but also stable and real.

Great read.. Really good story with engaging characters. I liked it so much I'm going to buy the next one.

Brilliant!. I have never been so engrossed by a series of books. I read all of them so quickly, in bed, at work, walking around, even waiting for the elevator. You can so easily lose yourself as the main character. Can't wait for the latest book.

Thoroughly enjoyable. While it wasn't quite the murder mystery I was expecting, it was very enjoyable. While not Shakespeare in its prose and complexities- it was such a wonderfully enjoyable story, with such wonderful characters! I not only read it in one sitting- but this little tightwad is buying the other books too!

Great Read. This book reminded me of Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Plum series. This was a really good book, I have already purchased book 2.

Heller. I loved this book! Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Tilly is a very lovely character who is kind, funny, temperamental, a bit naive, and endearingly a magnet for trouble. She inspires loyalty and at the same time she also allows herself to be taken advantage of. Heller is a man who is just mysterious and dangerous enough to make himself alluring. I cannot wait for future opportunities to get to know him better. Although it didn't end the way I wanted to, it was an absolutely perfect ending for this phase of their story. Hurry please with the next novel in the series!

Admitted Heller Creeper. I started with this book. It was free. It was based in Australia...interesting locale. I was pleased to find how much I enjoyed the characters. All the main ones are atypical but have redeeming features. I got so caught up in reading about people I liked that the book ended too soon. Then I ordered the next one. And the next one. Sure wish JD Nixon wrote faster. Try her Little Town series too.
