Tarzan of the apes. Amazing

Tarzan. Love all the Tarzan book. Retread them all the time.

Loved it!. Couldn't put it down!!!

Tarzan of the Soes. Reread the book I read as a child and found it as endearing and fascinating

I had no idea!. I had no idea what I was getting when I started reading Tarzan. It was great! I couldn't put it down. I'm about to download the next book. No wonder there have been so many movies about Tarzan. Nothing can compare to Burroughs' descriptions of the apr man and his jungle.

I love this BOOK!!!. I have never felt so much excitement reading each page!! I love how Burroughs is detailed in his work!!

Tarzan of the Apes. Brilliant book, Hollywood got the story all wrong. Did Edgar Rice Burroughs ever go to Africa? I do not know. The action of the savages/cannibalism, torture, etc read as very real, but what experience did Burroughs base this on? Highly recommended to read, forget what you saw in the movies!

Tarzan of the Apes. I have seen so many movie and TV versions of this story I had to see what the original was about. Much was what I suspected, some was better, and some was so bad as to be distracting. The Good: As an adventure story about how an orphaned child thrives in the jungle after being adopted by a great ape who had just lost her baby, this is a fun read. If you can suspend disbelief long enough to accept everything Tom Cruise can do in the Mission Impossible movies, then reading how this boy grows into a "god-like giant of a man" is just fun. The Bad: Burroughs' incessant moralizing is a huge distraction. Whenever he writes himself into a corner about how Tarzan is able to unerringly choose the right (at least the 19th century British male aristocratic version of "right") action he attributes it to centuries of correct breeding that make up a "British Gentleman" :-P The Ugly: Racial stereotypes. Jane's servant woman speaks a mismash of English gibberish that makes Amos 'n Andy seem like Shakespeare. The portrayal of African tribesmen is only slightly less offensive - The natives are evil because they're cannibals, and they're cannibals because they're black. Puhleeze! Last words: Am I glad I read it? Yep. Will I read it again? Nope.

Awesome. I like Tarzan and I'm a animal lover

Tarzan!. A great book and a good read for everyone who loves adventure ! As a 70 year old looking back, I remember all the Tarzan movies I saw as a child at the Bijou Theatre. They were grand and still are. Saw one a few months ago on Turner Classic Movies and loved every minute of it. This book, the first in a series, fleshes out Tarzan better than a movie could and makes him come alive in a very believable way. Read it, and let your imagination run free. It is an adventure in envy sense of the word and a romance novel throughout .

Tarzan of the Apes. It isn't the deepest of stories by any means but it is enough to keep you interested. There are a few pages that have the top line cut off but it's not enough pages or words to hinder your understanding of the book at all. A good read even just to have something to compare the Disney movie with.

Me Treco. Read all of the Tarzan series and John Carter of Mars when I was around 8 years of age. I enjoyed them immensely then and now 72years later, I have the same enjoyment.

Wonderful, touching book. I loved this book! Read it in two days. Brings back so many memories of the Tarzan movies.

I loved it.. Great great book!!! :)

Tarzan of the Apes. Wonderful adventurous love story.

Tarzan. It is as wonderful a story today as it was 100 years ago. I love reading it over and over.

So freaking good!. This book was GREAT! Besides the (problematic by modern standards) depictions of African Americans and the native tribespeople, this book was a fantastic read! Sure there is pretty obvious sexism but you really have to understand that this was written over 100 years ago when people had a different idea of the world.

Required reading. Everyone must read this. It's an amazing reflection on society under the guise of a superb adventure story. As good as Dickens at his best. You'll why this story is retold each generation when you finish it.
