Stolen Prey by John Sandford Book Summary

A senseless slaughter leads Lucas Davenport down a twisted path in this thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the Minnesota town of Wayzata, an entire family has been killed—husband, wife, two kids, dogs. On the wall, in blood: “Were coming.” No apostrophe.

There’s something about the scene that tugs at Lucas’s cop instincts—it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen from Mexican drug gangs. But this is a seriously upscale town, the husband ran a modest software company, the wife dabbled in local politics. None of it seems to fit.

Until it does...

Another one. Great story and even better banter between the characters. Lucas and his crew are always interesting. Sandford does it again.

Bleh.... Book started out promising, but then just kind of meandered along painfully slowly. It culminated in a rather boring ending that left me raising my hands asking "did it seriously just end like that?" Wish I hadn't bought it. Probably won't try another of his books.

Stolen Prey. O.k. I give. How does John Sandford do it?. Another incredible page turner. Great yarn with an edge of your seat ending. You'd think Lucas Davenport would be tired by now. But no. The only disappointment is waiting for the next Sandford book featuring Lucas and the gang. Meanwhile maybe there's a new Virgil Flowers on the horizon. Hope so. Prof. Ron Aaron Eisenberg

Stolen Prey. Another excellent story! John Sandford continues to share the life and times of Lucas Davenport and his family and friends. All the while spinning a great tale. I can only hope for more!

Stolen Prey. I have read all of John Sandford's books and enjoyed them a great deal. I found this one to be more formulaic an usual and frankly, boring. I won't be so quick to read another.

Stolen Prey. By boysmumas I love this series. I especially look forward to the mentioning of Virgil Flowers. He is a kick butt detective and certainly improves the plot. Lucas is great but seems more subtle and refined than Virgil. I have read all the Prey books and look forward to the next one. Terrific read.

Stolen Prey, John Sanford. Another fantastic "prey" novel! Always entertaining, fast moving and laugh out loud funny at times. I never want the book to end! Now I have to wait at least another year for another one!

Page turner. Excellent...one of Sandfords best. I could not put this down. It is a great read for those reading this genre. Not 100% plausible but who cares?

Great Read!. What a great read for my first book in ten years! Great storyline with an unexpected ending! I can't wait to read the other books in the series!

Stolen Prey. Don't waste your money!

Good???. This is one of the worst books I have ever read. It is poorly written and all over the place and very slow going. To many meaningless characters and seems to drag out. I have just sat and flipped pages and don't feel like I have missed anything when I start back. Don't waste your time. And it was 12.99, so not worth it.

Kind of slow for a Davenport story.. Kind of slow for a Davenport story. Although, a techie would love the computer fraud / theft aspect of it. A good read nonetheless, but not one of his better books, IMHO. Really can't wait for the next Virgil Flowers story,

Pretty Good. This book kept me interested from beginning to end. Not the BEST book I've ever read, but enjoyed it.

Just great. Good read, good characters, ... The usual for a Prey book. I am looking forward to the next from JS.

Amazing. I love his books. I had to pace myself so that I wouldn't finish the book too quickly... And the ending... Perfect!

Stolen Prey. I have read all the last three of the Lucas Davenport series. I've enjoyed them a lot. After I read the other 3 I will read the Virgil Flowers series. John Stanford is a great author!

Stolen Prey. Read it in two sittings. Typical Sandford. A great read and happy to see that Lucas is still up to the task.

Another great Prey book. A must read for any "Prey" fan. John Sanford's done it again with a tale you have a hard time putting down. I can't wait for the next one!

Stolen Prey. Slow at beginning. Once it developed it took a faster pace and enjoyed the reading. Predictable though.

Excellent!. Lucas Davenport never disappoints!

Stolen Prey. Love Lucas Davenport - but slightly disappointing ending re the Big Voice Character?

Boring. This book is a very boring read. Do not recommend

The prey series. Love this book and the entire series

Classic Sandford. Another great book by John Sandford. Davenport is an entertaining character with a solid supporting cast. There are twists and turns but told in a realistic setting. A fun read.

Would make a great action movie!!. Lots of action. Keeps you going. Several plots. A 5 star for sure!!

Great. A real page turner!

DLP. Excellent book. The ending was a little out there but a page turner that kept your attention.

Stone Prey. Sandford is a storyteller extraordinaire. Love all his works. Hooked him, like Stephen King, o Tom Clancy. Can hardly wait for the next yarn. ~LarryPatrickJohnson

Stolen Prey. I had read several of Sandford's books a number of years ago. While I thought the story line here was intriguing, something about this book just didn't do it for me. Maybe it would hold more interest for readers who have followed the entire series, but having not done so, I felt left out. For first time readers of the series, I think you will be somewhat disappointed.

Great. As always!

What a Ride. Neither Sandford nor the Davenports disappoint! Plot, characters and dialogue come together like few other books. The only question is when will Letty get her own series? Well done Mr. Sandford!!!!

Stolen Prey is a gem of a book. Love seeing Lucas Davenport back in action. Greatly written, good pace and covers all the bases. Can't wait for his next case.

Ugh. I did not like this book at all. It feels like Sandford is churning out half baked crap now just to get paid. Very disappointing.

Stolen prey. As always, a great book by John Sanford!!!!

Stolen prey. Excellent plot , well written , incredibly entertaining even with the disturbing and extreme graphic scenes !

Awesome read. Great story telling and ride from start to finish. Fun read. Enjoyed it.

Stolen Prey. Couldn't wait to get to get to bed at night to read. Thought about what would happen next at work. Lucus, Weather and Letty are like ols friends loved getting to spend some time with them

Stolen Prey. Excellent as usual by Sanford.

Great read. Sanford's usual quick read. He is always excellent.

Great once again.. Sanford has done it again. Love his books and the characters he's created.

Solid. I love Sanford's writing and I love Lucas can't wait for the next one !!!!

Some promise. The book opened strongly but faltered throughout the second half of the story. Some items showed complex problems solved by over simplistic solutions.

Stolen Prey. Very good. Typical of John Sanford's work.

Stolen preys. Excellent reading a real page turner. Every time I would put it down, I would shake my head and say to myself wow that is what reading is all about.

Stolen Prey. Best One Yet!!! May we have some more, PLEASE?!?

Prey novels. I don't know if John Sanderson ever reads any of the readers reviews but if he does, thank you!!!

Stolen Prey. Outstanding. A thriller right to the very last page.

Is it missing something?. I downloaded it and it seems to be missing a chapter or something.

Y g gracias v. Txt me how

Stolen Prey. Another terrific Sandford. I love the characters! Excellent mystery/thriller! What a great ride!

Corny!. If there was a section in the book store called "Bad Cottage Books", this would be the best seller. Too many characters, poorly developed, barely a sub plot, written for grade 5's. Other than that it was great.

Awesome!. Haven't read it just yet but I know it's going to be awesome! I have the whole Prey series up to this point and I'm working on the Virgil Flowers series too and I love them all. John Sandford is such an amazing writer. I love Lucas Davenport (awesome character) and all the regulars in the series. Can't wait to read it.

Excellent. Excellent book. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend this read.

Gathering prey. Real page turner. Hated to put it down to eat or sleep
