Identity by Nora Roberts Book Summary

The #1 New York Times-bestselling author's terrifying next thriller about one man's ice-cold malice, and one woman's fight to reclaim her life.

Former Army brat Morgan Albright has finally planted roots in a friendly neighborhood near Baltimore. Her friend and roommate Nina helps her make the mortgage payments, as does Morgan's job as a bartender. But after she and Nina host their first dinner party—attended by Luke, the flirtatious IT guy who'd been chatting her up at the bar—her carefully built world is shattered. The back door glass is broken, cash and jewelry are missing, her car is gone, and Nina lies dead on the floor.

Soon, a horrific truth emerges: It was Morgan who let the monster in. "Luke" is actually a cold-hearted con artist named Gavin who targets a particular type of woman, steals her assets and identity, and then commits his ultimate goal: murder.

What the FBI tells Morgan is beyond chilling. Nina wasn't his type. Morgan is. Nina was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. And Morgan's nightmare is just beginning. Soon she has no choice but to flee to her mother's home in Vermont. While she struggles to build something new, she meets another man, Miles Jameson. He isn't flashy or flirtatious, and his family business has deep roots in town. But Gavin is still out there hunting new victims, and he hasn't forgotten the one who got away.

It was okay. I found this book boring at times. It was slow in the beginning but picked up half in the middle & the ending was okay. Nothing thrilling about it… I don‘y recommend paying for it… Read it if it’s free

Starting over. Absolutely amazing no spoilers bring Kleenex with to read so many twist and turns spectacular story like always Nora has a way with words

Gave me chills. Another top read by one of my favorite authors. The first thing I did after starting this book, was check my accounts and credit score, this bad guy, gave me chills. All the feels are here, extreme loss, family, love, romance as expected from a Nora Roberts book, and of course a good dog, lol. Loved this story, it is now part of my favorite Nora Reads. Do not miss this one!

Identity. This might be the best one yet! And I’ve pretty much read them all! Great characters great story and current! Loved it!

LOVED IT !!. Beautiful!!!!

Exciting Adventure Story. Loved this one. The characters were authentic, the story line contemporary with just enough realism to make it an exciting adventure story in true Nora Robert’s fashion.

Fast and easy read. Another amazing story by Nora Roberts. A bit of suspense, thrown in to a wonderful story of family, honor and connections. Great summer read!

“Her ladies.”. I normally love books by Nora Roberts. I normally enjoy her character development, including her affectionate and knowing characterization of the men in her novels. Every now and then, however, I have the sense that she’s trying to reach a word count or tat she is showing off how much research she’s done on her main character’s profession. This is one of those books. I’m a little bit disappointed, because I rarely pay full price for a brand new book. I’m also a little bit disappointed because normally her once-a-year romance/thrillers are of a little higher quality and her trilogies, which can be a little uneven. But in reading this book, I had the sense that she began the book, then passed it over for someone to carelessly finish. The main character wasn’t well developed and the romantic lead/partner read like a 1970s Harlequin romance love interest: brusque, rude, and unknowable. I’m sorry to say this, this is one book I would recommend you pick up at the used bookstore as a paperback. Side note: My husband and son soon tired of listening me to say, “‘Her ladies! Her ladies’ again.” I found this affectation, annoying, repetitive, and more than a little condescending. “My” ladies? I did enjoy her vivid descriptions of the resort and the state of Vermont.

DRAGS ON. I was hoping for a suspense book this is about 10 percent about the killer and 90 percent about a girl starting over. This is more of a summer read.

Riveting!. I have read every book that Ms Roberts has written (this includes books by J. D. Robb) and this is probably one of the best. It includes suspense, romance, and family ties. Morgan and Miles were one of my favorite couples. They weren’t your typical sappy lovers but both had their heads on straight and handled any problems with a straight, forthright manner. The secondary characters were just as enthralling and the family dynamics in both the Nash and the Jameson families were something to strive for. This was one of the best individual books that Ms Robert’s has written, as we know that any of her series can’t be beat!

Not her best. Nora Roberts is my favorite author. That being said, this book had several typing errors, which I had read about in another review. For $14.00, I expect much better editing. This is also the first time I have had to reread several sentences in a book, and add my own commas, to make the sentences coherent. I would like my money back! The story was good but the sloppy writing and using the wrong character’s name in the story is unacceptable. Here is another thought. Is it that hard to come up with character names that you have a dog named “Howl” and then suddenly a police officer named “Howe”? The two names are one letter off. How about Officer Larson or Brown or Peters. I gave this four stars so my review would not be buried on page 20 and readers would actually see it.

Cute & simple + murder. Simple, wholesome read about murder and identity theft. Mostly about starting over and the idea of not giving up. Super cute, could’ve been way more intense

Did Nora Roberts Write This?. I am a lifelong Nora Roberts fan. But this book doesn’t even sound like her voice. If I didn’t know better, I would say she had a ghost writer for this one. It was flat, without the characteristic humor and intrigue of a NR novel.

Don’t miss this book. Book was very suspenseful and not a typical mystery novel. Hard to put

A Hit’n. Always….always a great read.. idk how she does it. Nora traps you with her stories. Must read

Love it and feel shortchanged at the same time. Beautiful story just an anticlimactic ending. The story flows so wonderfully throughout Morgan’s journey but the narration for the antagonist was so straightforward and obvious it left me wanting for more depth.

The perfect book for me. This was a captivating read. I loved it from start to finish.

Amazing. I absolutely enjoyed every page of this book! Stayed up to the wee hours of the morning in the middle of a work week bc I just couldn’t put it down!

Identity. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was I couldn’t put it down and it was over too soon. If only Nora could write as fast as I can read… so hard to wait for the next one!

Identity. So, soooo good. As usual.

Great job. Alway excellent love your books. Great job

So realistic. I couldn’t put it down and I pray it never happens to anyone I know

Captivating!. As usual, I couldn’t put this book of Nora Robert’s down! It was a bit of a different style read but fascinating all the way through! I’ve never been disappointed with any of this author’s books!

Nice, but same ole same ole. Norah is a talented writer… really does a great job painting a picture with great descriptions and context. However… SPOILER ALERT I feel I’ve read this story from her before, multiple times. * Interesting woman finds herself with some sort of evil sick stalker that sticks through the denouement. Yawn. * She ends up having a warm and loving network of family and/or friends that bolsters her strength. That’s usually the best part of her books, but despite the length of the book, most relationships were underdeveloped and hard to keep straight. Example: her relationship with Nell was intended to be a key one, but it felt like SNAP best friends/sisters with no real depth getting them there. Ditto with her other bridesmaid. * Falls in love (hey it’s a romance novel ❤️) so that’s cool. * Through her strength, perseverance, and support network she takes down the Big Bad. The book is formulaic but if you’re new to Nora Roberts, you’ll love it.

Kept me glued to the very end.. Really good read!!!

Felt like a re-run. I’m a longtime Roberts fan, so maybe it’s that I’ve read too many of her books, but this felt like a re-run in terms of characters and plot. I’m also troubled that what she claims happened to the protagonist just wouldn’t happen. If your identity is stolen, you are not responsible for fraudulent charges, loans, etc. It may seem a small thing, but it made the book less believable and made it feel like an old manuscript that got dusted off and re-worked. There are so many protections now against what happens in the book. At the very least, two-stage authentication. I don’t think this is her best effort.

A great story. I always enjoy reading her books and this is another good one. Thank you!

Identity. Absolutely love this book, fun characters, love interest, drama and a strong woman winning. A very good read.

Identity. I enjoyed the book but predictable!

Identity. Hallmark Christmas movie meets Ted Bundy. Ugh!

Never disappointed…. Nora Roberts (& J D Robb) always writes the best books! I’ve read all of the In Death series, my favorite. Now this book is one of my new favorites of her stand-alone books. I always get so engrossed in the story and the locations, and the characters. And I love that while reading her stories I learn about something new and different, really thinking about more than just the main story. In fact I really hope we get to return to Westridge, Vermont sometime in the future. It seems that there could be more for the Nash women and Jameson families, and the resort. I would love to go there again! Thanks so much for your wonderful book.

Idenity by Nora Roberts. Very disappointed to find out I could only read 38 pages on my ipad!! I was then informed that I could finish reading Idenity on a kindle which I don't have!

Predictable, but so enjoyable. The characters were relatable from the start and you were invested in Morgan and her journey. I would recommend

What a great read!!. OMG this was fabulous! Best Nora in a while!!! Totally unpredictable! Great read!!

Identity. Great book! Nora alway hits a home run!

Perseverance. Beautiful story of perseverance and not giving up when all seems lost

True Nora Roberts writing, Excellent. For me this was another excellent book from Nora Roberts. This was a true testament of what the world has become, and an example of what human nature can Achieve when push comes to shove. Miles and Morgan deserve a beautiful ending and a great life together.

Up too late. Great book, I felt very connected to the characters and was on edge for the ending, I just couldn’t put it down!

Disappointed. Has potential in the story plot but so slow with a lot of boring filler. Hard to get hooked.

Great Read!!!. Thank you for starting my summer reading with a bang. Could not put the book down.

Eh. A whole lot of build up for a mediocre ending.

Love it. Nora Roberts never disappoints. Great story line.

Perfect rainy day read. One of those stories that keeps you turning the pages and thinking…what if …the only thing I didn’t like was trying to find another book after finishing this one!

Predictable , trite and boring. Can’t believe I stuck with it— only because I never abandon a book and kept thinking maybe it would be worth it in the end. Never happened.

There is no greater storyteller than Nora Roberts. A gripping story from cover to cover.. Identity theft, romance and characters carefully crafted to tell an intriguing story. Nora Roberts at her best.

Identity. Loved this book! Did not want it to end! Nora Roberts you have out done yourself,

Very Scary. Loved it. As usual Nora Roberts has done a detailed in depth description of the bar tending profession. Leaves me in no doubt that I would never want to be one.Enjoyed the lovely relationships and was terrified by the criminal.
