Loved this book!. I loved Noelle and Archie! Noelle is eighteen and off to college, and Archie is twenty one and about to start law school when they meet officially at their parents’ beach house in Maine. Their parents are best of friends. Noelle thinks Archie is stuck up until she gets to know him. Archie does not have that many true friends. That first summer is woven throughout the book. Penelope crafts a beautiful story of friends, almost lovers, to lovers. This story gripped me from the very beginning and will at times will have you wanting to throw your kindle. Such a great read! 5 stars

Deep emotional story.. There are so many facets to this story. Heartfelt, real emotions are pulled and tears will come. This story will stick with you long after it is finished. A wonderful treasure. Highly recommended.

Toe the Line. Penelope has done it again! I absolutely love Noelle and Archie’s story. I don’t like to give away spoilers but I hated to read the last chapter because I knew it was the end. It is a must read story that takes you through so many different emotions, some joyful and some sad but in the end it is so worth it! Thank you, Penelope, for giving us another awesome adventure!❤️🌞🏖️

Archie and Noelle gave me the best book hangover!. I was hooked from the very beginning and loved every word until the end. The flow and timeline were perfect for this slow burn, friends to lovers romance. Noelle and Archie’s friendship began as young adults and continues for over a decade. They are victims of poor timing all through their relationship. When their chance at love comes, hard decisions must be made and a lifetime of burdens have to be forgiven. Oh and that slow burn packs so much heat too, I loved it! I will be reading this one again soon.

Prepare yourselves for a story you won’t soon forget!. Good God almighty, this book is full of all the feels! Dagnabbit, this story really tore me up! You know how you read a book, and it’s almost too much, like you feel like you need to put it down and walk away a bit so that you can regroup and get yourself under control, and then go back? That’s how I felt, only I couldn’t put it down, even though it was overwhelming my emotions. Penelope is the queen of breaking my heart into a million pieces, but then painstakingly and lovingly putting it back together. My heart really ached for Archie and Noelle. This was truly the classic friends to lovers romance with every bump in the road along the way. These two had a very honest friendship, and a bond that couldn’t be broken, even if at times they wish it could. I loved the way Penelope gave us past and present chapters, and I can’t decide which ones I loved more, so I’m just going to call it a tie. I wanted SO badly for these two to find their peace and happiness and love, but for quite a while there it didn’t feel like it was going to happen. I hung in there though, even though I was an emotional wreck, so thank you for that, Penelope! This story has it all, starting with angst! Oh, the angst! But every other emotion too, and I know these characters will stay with me for a very long time. What a book! I’m still all up in my feels, because as usual Penelope made me bawl like a big ole baby at the end. She does this to me in every book. Prepare yourselves in advance. Grab some snacks, some wine, a box of tissues and settle in for a story you won’t soon forget!

All. The. Stars.. All. The. Stars. Toe the Line is the latest stand-alone novel by Penelope Ward and oh my gosh you guys-it was incredible! With every single story I read by Ms. Ward, I am continually blown away by her writing and Toe the Line was no different. What I loved most about this book is that she seamlessly jumps back and forth from the past to the present and gives you a story that you will not be able to forget. Days after finishing, I still can't stop thinking about these characters. This story is so much more than your typical romance novel. Its about timing and how no matter how much you want something, it doesn't mean you'll get it. Timing is everything and for Archie and Noelle, it never seems to line up. My heart broke for these two characters-over and over again. But I also smiled and laughed alongside them. Overall, this story is going to stay with me for a long time to come. Ms. Ward completely outdid herself with this one. I highly recommend reading it!

So.. good!!. So.. I believe Archie and noelle’s story is so unique compared to anything I have read from this author or anyone in this genre so far. Its refreshing to get to read a love story about a man who isn’t a billionaire and a women who wasn’t his submissive.. no shade. It was beautiful and the twist and turns were realistic.

Mismatched Socks made in heaven ❤️. ‘Mismatched socks reminded me a lot of my relationship with Archie Remington. Our path certainly wasn’t orderly or sensical, but somehow in the end, when the two of us finally came together, it was perfect.’ Ward has taken this Friends-To-Lovers trope and put the ultimate twist on it in only the way she can do it. She is the ‘it’ factor author of slow burn romance and she has brought it in true fruition with ‘Toe The Line’. From the moment these two characters arrive at Whaite’s Island they have a magnetism unlike no other. Thinking Archie is a cocky jerk, Noelle learns otherwise after getting to know him on their summer vacation they form a true friendship but then they become so much more only to be torn apart before the even began. Will their stars ever align? Archie and Noelle, are so charismatic that to me they are the most powerful characters to date in all of Ward’s books. This book has you flipping through the pages and at the same time hoping it never ends. Ward is another one of my ‘one click’ authors and never disappoints in her books. Amazing. Oh my god….. Penelope you have knocked it out of the park again….. the chemistry between archie and noelle is off the charts… i was literally crying for noelle… what she had to go thru with archie and just her being there for him thru out the years…. I don’t know if i could have gone to the wedding it would have torn me up just watching the man that i was in love with get married to another woman…. Well done…. Its amazing that a writer can get you into your feels…. Can’t wait for more!!!!!!

A wonderful friends to lovers read!. Toe the Line is a standalone, friends to lovers that has a veritable slow burn. The story delves into past and present over many years and the sizzling chemistry between these best friends seems hard to ignore. Due to certain family circumstances and other life choices, Archie and Noelle seem to toe the line to keep their friendship just that, as best friends. However as years go by, its always each other they have to count on. Supressing feelings, not knowing when to say something and going through the motions rather than living life can take its toll, however taking into account how Archies dad treated him, he had to make difficult choices and honestly, who could blame him. Will these two ever be together or just lifelong friends. Honestly I did tear up a couple times and definitely hoped for them both to get their heads on straight and realise what they have in front of them. Sometimes life never goes the way you want but should they finally take the plunge? I adored these two and my heart is happy at how it ended.

Wonderful read. Well totally not shocked to advise that Penelope Ward has delivered yet again a fantastic read that is one of my top reads of 2022. Toe The Lone ticked all the boxes for me as Archie Remington and Noelle Benedict’s story unfolded.   From the first to the last chapter Penelope Ward held me captive with this story. This was an entertaining read that I had trouble putting down when work got in my way. There is absolutely nothing I didn’t like about this story. This was a passionate, witty, well written, second chance at love, friends to lovers story with plenty of emotion with characters who are engaging. There is equal parts of romance and heat in this steamy story and is another brilliant story from Penelope Ward. It is a little gem that you need to experience for yourself, one click, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Ticked all my boxes. Penelope Ward has once again given us a wonderful read to start the year off. Toe the Line has characters you will fall in love with and a journey that will captivate you from the moment you pick this second chance, friends to lovers book up. This is Archie and Noelle’s entertaining and at times emotional journey and it will appeal to all romance lovers. I’m not going to write a review that will give their journey away because I believe this slow burn should be read with no preconceived ideas so all I’m going to say is please one click this gem you won’t be disappointed. Toe the Line ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I sighed, I smiled and I cheered this couple on. I’m not sure I can do this book justice so I hope I have done enough for you to join Archie and Noelle on their journey.
