Dark Game by Rachel Lynch Book Summary
DI Kelly Porter knows some people will risk everything to get ahead. But when the truth comes out deadly prices are paid...
After a scandal forces DI Kelly Porter out of the Met, she returns to her home turf in the Lake District. Crimes in the Cumbrian constabulary tend to be of the minor sort, but Kelly begins work on a cold case that shocked the local community – the abduction and brutal murder of ten-year-old Lottie Davies.
Meanwhile, Kelly is also investigating two seemingly straightforward crimes: a case involving an illegal immigrant, and a robbery following the death of local businessman Colin Day. But evidence comes to light that reveals a web of criminal activity beyond anything Kelly imagined. Behind the veneer of sleepy, touristy towns lies a dark and dangerous underworld. As Kelly threatens to expose those with much to lose, she risks paying the ultimate price to get to the truth…
Don’t miss this taut and gripping novel from million copy bestseller, Rachel Lynch. Perfect for fans of Carol Wyer, Patricia Gibney and Angela Marsons.

Fun. Fun read - predictable and unrealistic police actions however.
Dark Game. Enjoyed the book. A lot of twists and turns but she solved a lot of cases and more.
Dark Game. Nice read, kept interested to read more.
Good Reading. Mystery abounds in this who’s the one behind all that’s going on and why ?
Captivating and Binge Worthy. I binged the book in two days. While the ending was somewhat predictable, the plot kept turning in every which way!
Great hook for the series!. Overall, very entertaining and hard to put down— I just wanted to know how it all worked out!!
New to this authors work and. I really liked it.
Heavy themes. I wanted to rate it 2 stars due to the adult scenes that were Unnecessary and had way to many details. However, overlooking that it was an okay read. It does pick up after a while and has you wondering what’s going to happen next.
A complex story. A complex story of a complex crime. Good character development. I will read this author again.
Fantastic. The story was fantastic and sad. Human traffickers eventually get caught after several murders. Kelly’s investigation leads to the arrest and conviction of several people. Some of the criminals escaped.
Should’ve had a TW.. Honestly a disgusting book. So many unnecessary scenes of violence and r*pe that did not add to the storyline whatsoever, it felt like I was reading a disturbed persons fantasies. I tried to keep reading even after certain scenes since I was somewhat invested in the plot, however it still seemed to be going nowhere, generally comes off like a ramble about crime and not a well developed storyline. And of course the weird obsession with non-consenting sexual acts and misogyny displayed through the characters without remorse or correction took much away from the actual narrative. Would not recommend especially if you are sensitive with those topics. Surprising that there’s not some sort of Trigger Warning as well. Based on the content that is included, there definitely should be multiple. Not a good read.
Great read. Could not put it down.

A real good read. A good all round thriller
An egregious error!. This is a reasonably well written book although the characters are not well developed, especially the main protagonist's colleagues. The plot is based on Eastern European migrants requiring UK work permits paying to be smuggled into the country, including a central 'illegal immigrant' who is Polish. Poles have not required work permits in the UK since 2004! This fundamental error ruins the book and destroys the author's credibility.
Very graphic descriptions of cruelty. Did not enjoy and stopped reading halfway through. Very graphic descriptions of cruelty
Excellent first introduction to the DI Kelly series .. Great to have a detective based in the Lake District not one of the big cities. I’d been recommended this book after reading the last in the current Sue Grafton books and enjoyed it. I’ve already downloaded the second in the series and am looking forward to reading all the current DI Kelly books.
Gripping. Excellent writing. Had my attention from start to finish. Looking forward to book 2
Some more research needed. I really enjoyed this book however, surely it just takes a look on google to see that there is no Onchan Island Bank. There’s an Onchan (village) but we’ve never had an Island Bank. Close but a little bit more research would go a long way, because once I got to the first mention of the bank I actually stopped reading and said to myself what???? And that happened several times. Other than that a really good book, plenty of plot twists and turns and a good ending. About to start book 2.............................
Dark Game,a review. I have enjoyed this book very much and I look forward to reading the book in the series
Harrowing. The one word I can use to describe this, is harrowing!! Feeling rather disturbed at the end - even though justice was served.
I don’t know what to say about this title. It’s meh
Fantastic Read. If your deciding whether or not to download this book, my advice is simply do it!!!, had me gripped for days
Brilliant. Wow could not put the book down.
Slow starter. Slow at start but picked up pace. Pleased stuck with it. Will read the next one in the series hopefully pace is quicker.
Excellent!. Absolutely brilliant book…could not put it down!! Well written and totally grips you from the first page!

Gripping!. Well written with a great twist and turn as you read. The ending was a little predictable and I wish we had more information connecting the what appear to be two main story lines.
This is a fabulous five star story.. Dark Game by Rachel Lynch Kelly Porter is a DI transferred to the Cumbria after a bit of a kerfuffle in London. She inherits a cold case regarding a stolen child and a current case after a rich man dies. And from there things just keep getting murkier! The story has extraordinary info about police practices integrated with a wonderfully personal approach tied up with intricate detail about the cases and how those, plus another, wind up into each other. Eventually you realise that the local country location is where the most established criminals get to hide their presence and their wealth. An excellent story, well told, located in a great location; 5/5
Couldn’t put it down. This is one you really can’t put down! As the pieces of the puzzle come together it is harder and harder to drag yourself away
Unrealistic. I found this book quite heavy and unrealistic compared to many other crime fiction books. It almost wanted to continuously shock and awe the reader and didn’t consider realism
