The second season of Tawag ng Tanghalan was an amateur singing competition currently aired as a segment of the noontime show It's Showtime from June 12, 2017 to June 2, 2018. Gary Valenciano was added as a new judge for the second season. After 301 days of competition, 16-year-old Janine Berdin from Cebu emerged as the Grand Champion, followed by Ato Arman as the second placer and Steven Paysu as the third placer. Hosts and judges Rey Valera returned as the head coach for the second season, with Louie Ocampo, Jaya, Ogie Alcasid, Yeng Constantino serving as fill-in for Valera. Judges Billy Crawford, Karylle, Karla Estrada, K Brosas, Nyoy Volante, Mitoy Yonting, Rico J. Puno, Erik Santos, Kyla, Jed Madela, and Jolina Magdangal returned as judges for the second regular season. Gary Valenciano was added as a new judge, serving as fill-in for Valera. The two contenders from each quarter who receives the highest average score from the public vote and judges' score advances to the Grand Finals and receives an additional ₱150,000 while the contenders who failed to reach the top 2 receives an additional ₱25,000. The week-long showdown took place on December 11 to 16, 2017 held at ABS-CBN Studio 3. Global Semifinal details Makoto Inoue (Japan) and Steven Paysu (California, United States) were announced as the 5th and 6th grand finalists. Ultimate Resbak All Semi-finalists who lost were now Ultimate Resbakers. They competed again and had another chance to qualify for the Grand Finals. The week-long showdown took place on May 19–26, 2018. John Mark Saga of Quarter 1 and Charles Kevin Tan of Quarter 3 chose not to compete for the wildcard due to prior commitments. Summary of Ultimate Resbakers Contender's Information:Results Details Power Seat Round Before the live episodes (this round aired exclusively online in livestream through Facebook, YouTube, and the network's other social media channels), the semifinalists were pitted against each other to claim one of the two Seat of Powers, dubbed as the Ultimate Resbak Showdown. The Seat of Powers serves as immunity against the other contenders and gives them opportunity to select two contenders to pit against each other. The contender garnering the highest score from the judges and another contender from the public vote will claim the Seat of Power. All songs are reprise of their previous performances, either during the daily rounds or the semifinals. JM Bales and Mark Douglas Dagal received the highest public vote and judges' score respectively. They are seated first in the seats of power. Daily Rounds In the daily episodes, the two semifinalists who are in the Seat of Power picks one semifinalist each. The picked semifinalists will be pitted against each other for a chance to dethrone the semifinalists in the Seat of Powers. The winner of the first round is selected by the majority of the judges. The winner will now challenge one of the semifinalists in the Seat of Powers to go in a sing-off. The winner is based on 50% public vote and 50% judges' score. If the challenger wins, he/she dethrones the seated semifinalist. If the seated semifinalist wins, she/he remains in the Seat of Power. The remaining contenders in the Seat of Power will move forward to the week long Grand-Finals dubbed as "Ang Huling Tapatan" while the other contenders are eliminated.
