Amazing Book (Kdrldrslea)
Absolutely love this series I’ve read it and reread it at least 10 times lol.
Couldn’t stop reading! (Amina Elaine)
It it so rare that I find a book that has me so hooked I stay up entirely too late to finish it. This beautiful writing only took a matter of days to complete (pesky things like work and life getting in the way, extending the time). It was a pleasure devouring this book and reading about my favourite culture and heritage. Vivid imagery, attention to details and including Norwegian phrases (without talking down to her audience!) are just a few of the reasons that I will now be feverishly reading the other books she has written!
Wonderful Love Story (jeanwilhelm)
This is one of the sweetest love stories of Norse mythology that I have read. I love the romance between the mortal Kristia and Ull the God of Winter. Kristia is an adorable girl from a small town in Oregon with a desire for an adventure so she signs up for a study aboard in Wales. Once there she meets Ull Myhr. Ull is a handsome God from Asgard. Even though he is a God and one of the finest warriors of Asgard, Ull is very lonely; which was very heartbreaking to read. Once he meets Kristia he will do everything he can to protect her – even if it’s from him and his destiny. This story shows a great development between Kristia and Ull’s relationship and her acceptance of who Ull is and what his destiny entails. I love the ever sassy Norn, Elsker, especially how she handles Thor. She is one of my favorite characters. “Elsker”, the first book of The Elsker Saga by S.T. Bende is an excellent story; can’t wait to find out what is in store for these two and their family and friends.
Interesting premise but... (missystargaze)
Okay so girl meets Norse god and all that. That’s a cool enough storyline if the book didn’t play out EXACTLY like Twilight. Honestly, this is plagarism if i ever saw it. She’s clumsy, doesn’t have any sense of self value, and her beau stubbornly says no to her involvement in his world…TWILIGHT. Sorry but it is. And the dialogue. Really? Who says words and phrases like “criminy” and “by gum”. Smh.
Wonderful adventures in mythology and modernity...❤️ (KarenATL)
This showed up as a free e-book from Bookbub a few days ago. I was hooked from the opening sentence, and immediately downloaded the other two books in the series, Endre and Tor. I recommend downloading the trilogy, so when you reach the end of one book, you can continue on immediately. Character development is great, emotions and feelings are easily understandable, and the addition of gods from mythology make this an absolute must-read. You'll love Kristia and Ull and their extended families and friends, all mixed in with worlds-saving adventures. I have one minor complaint...in the later books, editing errors are more prevalent and they are my pet peeve. 'Breaks' instead of 'brakes' type of errors; a spellchecker wouldn't catch it, but a human should have! Not major, but my brain sees them immediately, and they slow me down as my brain corrects on the fly -something I truly hate. That said, the story overrides the irritation.
Norse God #UllBookBoyFriendForever (Bella951)
What an amazingly different story, I cannot find the words to describe just how much I this book. Ull will always be my book boyfriend
The story has just about everything I love in a romance novel. Ull & Kristia have some interesting things to overcom, after all dating the god of winter is kind of differant. I liked the way the story developed. this book really made the myth's come alive for me.
Book 2 Endre, here I come.
Seriously fantastic! (Rsherfey)
S.T. Bende has created an amazing story! This is the first full length novel in the Elsker saga and it has everything you want in the first book of a series! I love the mythology and this book was impossible to put down. It sets up the rest of the books and I had to grab the rest of them right away. It was such an enjoyable read. I stayed up until I finished it even though I had class the next morning. Addictive! Read this, you won't be sorry :).
Cute start to girl-meets-norse-god series (LauraBC88)
Kristia is an awkward, small-town girl from Nehalem, Oregon. With encouragement from her sassy friend Ardis, she attempts her first adventure away from home: study abroad at Cardiff University in Wales, where no one knows about her crazy visions. What starts out being a big step for her soon turns into one of her typical stumbles at the unexpected romance with the hot, detached Norse, Ull Myhr. It is a surprise for both of them when she stumbles straight into his heart. The surprise for Kristia? Her mythology class isn't so mythical. And for Ull? He's surprised to find himself allowing (wanting) someone else in his complicated life.
This first book in the Elsker Saga is a whirlwind introduction to Norse mythology, which I always enjoy, with little bits of Norwegian adding some authenticity to the tales. Although their interactions were sweet, I had a bit of a hard time accepting the rapid tumble the main characters take into each other's lives (instalove); it was a little jarring how quickly an awkward, small-town girl with no ambitions or expectations to meet any guy (let alone the local hunk who is actively hostile towards her at first) jumps into Ull's life. Besides this, the main characters are well-developed. Written from Kristia's point of view, it's quite easy to share her sudden, overwhelming emotions and to empathize with her decision-making struggles, whereas Ull retains a mysterious quality that intrigues.
S.T. Bende writes with vivid, clear descriptions and a dramatic, fluid plot that alternates between very rapid and a bit slow but nonetheless kept me engaged throughout. But be warned! Have the second book ready, because with such a cliffhanger, you'll be wishing you had Kristia's visions to know what the fate of the couple and their worlds will be...
Love, love, love it!!! (Brandt1)
I fell in love with these characters! They're perfection together and I couldn't put the book down and dove straight into the other books. I loved it so much, I drove 4 hours to go visit the cute little town of Nehalem that exists in Oregon. Great read by even more awesome author!
